Hey, the mailman just delivered my French Theatrical Cut blu-ray in the mail, so i'll be making screencap comparisons soon.
...on a side note, I also had the old Director's Edition DVD of Red Dragon being delivered and when the guy dropped Curse of Michael Myers off, I went "I think I was supposed to get a few more things today" and then five minutes later, another mailman delivered the Red Dragon DVD and a couple of letters Informed Delivery said was coming. A first, if you ask me. |

And here are the screencaps as promise.
[Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] To my disappointment, the French BD does not have the same color scheme as the Producer's Cut and is nearly identical to the Theatrical Cut disc in the Scream Factory set...albeit done in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio and with a nominally better compression job. The grain also looks better refined on the French BD too. So if you already have the Complete Collection box set, you already got a good enough version of the Theatrical Cut, but if you gotta have THE best looking version of the Theatrical Cut possible and is region free, go ahead and import the French disc. Be warned that the subs cannot be disabled when watching the film in English, though. |

Do fans of the theatrical cut of H6 wish that Loomis had survived in the end (no screaming)? Of course it doesn’t matter since that’s the end of that storyline. Just wondering what the fans thought.

Loomis was almost as integral to the series as The Shape and Halloween itself, much more so than Laurie, Jamie, or Tommy. The series hasn't been the same since Mr. Pleasence passed. |

Do people who make fan edits of movies usually give themselves onscreen credit?

Yay! 23 year anniversary! 23 is also the number that was mistakenly listed as Michael Myers’ age in the end credits of the original Halloween.
I completely agree. H6 has great atmosphere and in many scenes feels closer to the original than any of the other sequels. |

No. It ended correctly, considering the iconic actor so closely associated with the role passed away IRL.

[Show spoiler] near the end of the film and the music that accompanies it. I also prefer [Show spoiler] in the theatrical cut as it is so much more dramatic and satisfying. I wish there was a hybrid cut of the film that offered everything from the producer's cut, but also included things from the theatrical cut like the [Show spoiler] and [Show spoiler] Quote:
Instead of listing the credits as: Michael Myers (age 23)..................Tony Moran The Shape...................................Nick Castle It might have made more sense as: Michael Myers (age 21)..................Nick Castle Michael Myers (age 21, unmasked)...Tony Moran For Halloween II, just replace Nick Castle's name with Dick Warlock. I watched both cuts back to back, and I think both are equally as flawed for different reasons. The producer’s cut is a better made and edited film until its ridiculous and nonsensical climax and conclusion. The stuff with the voice talking to Danny was also really laughable. The theatrical cut ruined the first 4/5 of the film with choppy editing/pacing and excessive gore, but the climax/ending, while somewhat incomprehensible and stil far from ideal, at least makes more sense to me. I love the chase scene. Also, Brother Cane’s “And Fools Shine On” during the credits is one of my favorite songs of all time.
Ideally, we would’ve gotten Daniel Farrands’ original vision that Moustapha Akkad was interested in. Neither cut reflects that from what Daniel has said. Does anyone know where to find a copy of one of his early drafts (where Jamie lives until the third act)? All one scripts that I can find online are basically drafts of the producer’s cut with different endings. But this is the first Halloween film that came out in my lifetime (I was almost a year and a half old in Oct 1995), and I guess that’s pretty cool. Very nice, gonna throw in the producers cut. Although, 23rd anniversary certainly makes me feel old. I saw this on release, and am thankful they eventually put out the producers cut. I thinks it's a bit more cohesive than the theatrical. But, damn, I was 20 when I saw this. Where did the years go....

Halloween 6 always has been, and probably always will be my favorite Halloween movie. The atmosphere, setting, characters, and mood are all perfect for me. It was the first Halloween I ever saw too but on VHS. To this day I've never seen a movie with a better fall atmosphere.
Cheers all Halloween 6 fans! |

I lile H6 for the sheer brutality of Myers. That hospital massacre remains one of the best segments in the franchise IMHO.

To me, the main problem with the theatrical cut is that they kill Jamie early on, which makes Loomis’s presence at the hospital seem pointless. I don’t mind any of the added gore except for Jamie’s death, which is too much. But I like the extra gore with the mechanic’s death and the scene where Michael kills John Strode is shot much better in the theatrical. Even if you don’t like the head exploding, it’s clear that all the shots leading up to it are way more effective than in the P-Cut. In the P-Cut it’s quite obvious that the main actor wasn’t used. To me the problem is that many scenes in the P-Cut just feel lame. Regarding early drafts of the H6 script, someone asked Daniel Farrands on Facebook if he had a copy of the original script and he said he doesn’t think he still has it, and that Malek Akkad probably has it stored somewhere. I asked Farrands what his original intentions were and he said the cult originally was just supposed to worship Myers and enable him to kill. They weren’t trying to control him and they certainly didn’t give him any curse. He was just pure evil. |
