Of course not, but it's not like this is some new treatment of the story cut from whole cloth...they are relying heavily on the look and design of the 1959 Walt film, so they've invited the comparison, and by extension, the criticism. Sometimes Evil Villains are more fun, more entertaining, more compelling, when they're just flat-out evil, instead of indulging in "Here's my side of the story, you'll understand why I did what I did -- Don't Judge Me!" re-imaginings. Michael Meyers in Halloween. The original Dracula. The shark in Jaws. Pazuzu in The Exorcist. Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty. Let our villains be villains. What's next? Is Disney going to do a live-action version of their Hunchback of Notre Dame musical, where we see a young Frollo struggling with his attraction to his mother, who is a gypsy, but a terrorist against the Church? Madame Medusa needing the Devil's Eye to rescue family members held for ransom in New Orleans? Monstro seeing his family killed by whalers?

Let us have our villains and our heroes.

I loved the original, I loved that Maleficent is evil just to be evil. But I'm not going to completely write off a new take on the character because of that.

From the Dr. Strange thread, for example: "Yes, I think you're right that May 2016, would be the most possible time for Doctor Strange. That's especially considering the fact that the character 'Doctor Strange' may replace Iron Man as the main character in the Avengers movies. But that's if something happens to Tony Stark or when Robert Downey Jr's time in the marvel movies runs out. That is unless they extend his time in the Marvel movies playing the role as Tony Stark(Iron Man)."

Yes, This Maleficent movie is a live action movie. So I am pretty sure they will have the dragon in the movie with the Dragon being full cgi.
