i loved Raimis flicks besides 3 but think the new one was brilliant.

I would have to give the old ones another viewing but can honestly remember it being painful to sit through the third film. You honestly liked that garbage more than the new spidey film???

Well you know what they say. One man's trash is another man's treasure... Sure, 3 was flawed. But I still enjoyed it. And I still liked it better than the new one.

I'll wait for a HUGE price drop for this one. Saw it in theatres and just never conected with the character. He just was not my Spider Man. I grew up with Mark Bagley, Eric Larson, and Todd McFarlane on Amazing Spider Man. Stopped reading long before the Ultimate storyline started. So to me this Spider Man was kind of a dick. There was no humbling of the character at all, he never becomes a better person because of his actions, and why couldn't he stick to the building at the end? Visually however the 3D wasn't used as well as it could've been. Oh well, rant over.

I guess you missed the whole character arc where he learned what it means to be a hero. Done with much more gravity and meaning than Raimi could ever muster.

I'm confused. You don't seem to even like the film. Why wait for a price drop at all? What compels you to own a movie you clearly didn't enjoy - just the fact that you can get a good deal on it?

I liked all 3 of Raimi's Spidey films. They were entertaining for what they were. But there was always something wrong with them at their core. I never could quite put my finger on it but as much as they entertained me I never seemed to give a flip one way or the other about the characters. That changed with TASM. It was the first time I felt for Spider-Man & the people in his life. Hate to admit this but a few scenes in this one actually choked me up. I may have even shed a tear here or there had I been watching it alone. LOL! Very MUCH looking forward to owning this.

This.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Spider-Man 2 and the first one has really grown on me over the years, but those movies are clown-shoes in comparison.

I enjoyed some parts of it. The cinematography was great except for the lack of 3D in most of the film. At the end of the film he makes a promise to a dying man in which he breaks days later after one uncomfortable moment with Gwen. I guess i did miss the part where learned what it means to be a hero. There was a great scene with the car thief though.

Did it not bother you that OsCorp has an antidote machine that creates an antidote in 8 minutes, and that Connors had to pull Spiderman up from the edge of the building. Just felt Webb really rushed the ending there.

It's actually a foreshadowing to a major plot point from the comics.(Some of you here probably know what plot point i'm talking about. But for those who don't: (WARNING: Potential sequel spoilers)
[Show spoiler]Spider-Man kills Gwen by accident.
(Of course, if they follow the route the comics did.)

There was a lot cut from this, allegedly. The deleted scenes should be interesting.

i didn't see the big change either. Without using a spoiler quote I'm guessing one of his last comments to GS may cause a further change in the next movie but that's just a guess.

More gravity than the Raimi films? Seriously? in the first movie with great power comes great responsibility didn't mean much to you? Peter Parker's attitude did a 180 degree turn in the Raimi film and I've not seen such a change in any other obvious character in any Super hero flick beside Tony Stark in Iron Man 1 or Thor. Saying you didn't like the Raimi is your own personal taste but if you can't see the drastic change in that film which was leaps and bounds beyond The Amazing Spider-man in this regard then I dunno what to say.

This is one of things that I am looking forward about purchasing this in the next couple of months. Along with the audio commentary with Marc Webb.

I wish they'd just open the mattes for the entire film, honestly. Maybe the director cares about OAR, but if they're willing to open the mattes as a seemingly last-minute decision, I don't see why they wouldn't do that. They've done with a lot of Sony's other 3D films.

But I doubt they will. Like Sony's previous 3D films, they'll keep it in scope, even if the mattes were opened for other aspect ratios.
That really confuses me since Sony focuses so much on 3D... Yet a bunch of their live-action films are converted, others are in scope(including animated features), etc. You'd think that they'd ask their filmmakers to design their films better for 3D at home/at the cinema.

I think it's 10 times better than the old film. It's so much more accurate to the comics. Peter's not a buffoon here, just an outcast. bad things happen to him but they're not exaggerated as in the old movie series. This one has a much more realistic tone (and yet there are still funny bits) too.
