Agreed. There is no reason why Disney wouldn't give the fans what they ask for.

he brought it upon himself. He should have let Spielberg do the prequels. He didnt have it in him to write, direct, AND produce three quality SW fims. Thats too much for anybody to handle, let alone a below average director like Lucas.

He offered Spielberg the Prequels from the get go and he turned him down, saying that Lucas should get back into the directing chair.

He didn't have it in him? What are you talking about? He started writing Episode I in 1994. He didn't finish the prequels until 2005. That's 11 ****ing years to devote to something that he has no interest in.

I swear, some Star Wars fans are just that delusional when it comes to the so-called atrocity's Lucas has done to the franchise.

Grow the hell up.

It will be weird to see the Disney logo before the fim instead of the 20 Century Fox Fan Fare.It always sent shivers down my spine from the original trilogy.

Many things are wrong with Lucas, but it's not his directing talent -- he's a superb director and always has been. Look at his work on American Graffiti and THX 1138; they're amazing pieces of cinema, and very well directed. Hell, the first Star Wars was brilliantly directed by him: he just decided that he didn't want to do the next two so he could focus more on the production side, and get the story perfect.

The prequels weren't necessarily badly directed, they were just too vague in their storyline and not well put together.

I think that when Episode 7 is released and it turns out to be really good, it will quiet some of the nay-sayers. On the other hand, if it bombs? I guess the nay-sayers get to say, "we told you so" and we already get that for the prequels so we will be used to it.

Something else I just thought of: Does this mean that we'll get Disney coupons for an eventual blu-ray release??

First they will create the sequels, then the reboot down the line. I also expect to see a live-action television series on ABC sooner, rather than later.

Disney will definitely release the original theatrical editions of Star Wars on Blu-ray, though expect everything now to be "vaulted" every few years.

Oh dear. I can't believe some of you actually wants to see Lucas directing another Star Wars movie.

If anything should remain same, it's the John Williams music and the yellow title across the space on the beginning.

While I'm inclined to agree there's little point complaining about the prequels now (for better or worse, they're done; personally I didn't like them), "he didn't have it in him" implies that the poster thought he simply wasn't up to the task, not that he was unwilling to try or not interested enough to do so. Clearly, he was willing and interested. But unfortunately, the results weren't what many people were expecting. Which could only have exacerbated the resentment directed at him for the continued modifications to the original trilogy in order to bring it more in line with what many viewed as inferior films.

There is no way that Lucas gets to direct a Star Wars movie ever again. Disney is going to freeze him out of its creation.

I don't see anyone else returning. Except of course for R2-D2 and C-3PO playing their usual roles.
I don't see Kenny returning ... I saw him at CVI and his health is fading rather quickly

Not to mention the total and complete dependence on CG and the absence of at least one likable character. The movies were a mess. But a lot has been said already here, and the future looks bright for Star Wars.
