Have checked the British Film and Forthcoming sections on Network's website recently, and noticed something on the listing page for the Blu-ray release of Raise the Titanic (at the moment being released in three weeks time) which other people here may be able to clear up. Regarding the audio option on the disc, it says 'Sound 5.1 / English'. On the listing page for the Blu-ray release of The Tamarind Seed it says 'Sound Mono / English'. Until both Blu-ray titles are released (or until reviews are posted on the web), it won't be known for sure if those audio specifications are correct. But I wondered if anyone here knows if these audio mixes were the original audio mixes (apologies if the wording is inaccurate).

The Tamarind Seed was certainly a mono film, and since it's only had budget retail releases over the past 20 years (though a panned-and-scanned version was one of the very first hideously expensive videos you could buy in the beginning of the format) I doubt anyone bothered to remix it.

Clearly Raise the Titanic was never in theaters in 5.1 having been made around the time Dolby Stereo was becoming standard let alone surround sound.

I have the US disc which is out of reach but if there's a surround mix on the UK disc maybe its from the US release

There were 70mm 6-track prints distributed as well, which a legitimate mix could be derived from. It did have a massive budget and was a major production at the time. Whether it's authentic or a new interpretation is a different matter I suppose.

They seem do be doing this frequently recently.

The Pull of the Fascination BD properly pissed me off.

Nah they haven't pulled The Thief of Bagdad - see the specific thread. Also, I tweeted them to make sure and they confirmed it's still coming out.

Good to know

Sucks that two of the releases I was looking forward to most though - Insignificance and Fascination both seem to have gone up in smoke.

I'm hoping Insignificance is just delayed...am a big Roeg fan and would love to see them release it. As for Fascination, perhaps they decided to only release 3 Hitchcock blu-ray's at once rather than 4? Or maybe the material wasn't quite good enough to justify releasing on blu-ray.

Either way we might see it somewhere down the line if they change their mind or there's enough demand - many of their blu-ray titles are films they already released on DVD back in 2006/2007.

To cancel Insignificance is bizarre, considering there's already a Criterion Blu-Ray. Fascination isn't a Hitchcock film

Oh I just assumed it was as the DVD came out at the same time as the Hitchcock blu's! And yeah a shame, I hope it wasn't a complication with Criterion? Probably not, as I think I read that these Network titles are acquired in a deal with StudioCanal or something.

Very interested in this BLU. I hope it turns out to be a good release will import it if the feedback is good.

Really good performances (no Roeg pun intended) I think it is awesome work from Theresa Russell she was just perfect in the film. It isn't for everyone.

Will report back as soon as it's watched

I see it's being released in Germany too soon, guessing it's from the same source as the releases are so close together.

Gonna order it direct from Network as soon as they allow orders. I pre-ordered originally on Amazon but got impatient when they delayed it and cancelled my pre-order. Looking forward to seeing the film in full for the first time - I've only seen a few bits on Netflix before now, but I'm a big fan of Roeg (plus...Art Garfunkel and Harvey Keitel in the same film together)!

Tempted to get The Thief Of Bagdad too but might wait for a review on that one. The clip on YouTube does look promising though.
