Different folks, different strokes...

Props to Fox. I think, and I may be mistaken, they're the only major studios to include trailers for the films on their respective discs on a consistent basis.
I think YOU made YOUR point clear.

I like them from a historical perspective. Recently I watched the amazing FRIGHT NIGHT Documentary and they mentioned how the film wasn't marketed as a horror comedy and played up the horror. I was curious to see said marketing so having the trailer on my twilight time release of pt 1 gave me that option. If I'm watching a film made 10 years before I was born (pre1986) I have no clue what kind of advertising or promotional style was used in a film and those things interest me.

Probably because the trailers would have to be re-scanned in HD and it's not Wirth the money and effort. Not to mention, the trailers are probably in rough shape if original film even exists at all. Not really much sense putting a DVD-quality trailer on a blu-ray when you can probably just find it on YouTube anyway.

In "rough shape" is half the appeal to watching old trailers! I like them included. By your logic, you can pretty much find ALL extras on YouTube, so I don't really consider that a valid point.

Not really. I've never found any extras that I wanted to see apart from those for really major releases like Star Wars on youtube. Trailers, on the other hand, exist for virtually everything, even those super obscure flicks you'd see in Something Weird compilations.

Hey, you two want to start a "The Value (Or Not) Of Including Trailers" thread or something and leave this one for The Before Trilogy?

Want to wait until the Barnes and Noble criterion sale in the summer so as to purchase these gems, along with the Jacques Demy collection.

I got stupidly lucky on this and got in early at the $39.95 Amazon pricing mistake. I still can't believe it. lol

So I wonder if the "new" HD 2K transfers for Sunrise & Sunset are the same ones that have been on iTunes & Amazon for a couple years.

The lack of commentary on those films is disappointing.

These are approved by Linklater, and are different from what's been out there as far as I know.

I watch my favourites many times. probably more than the films. It's a lot easier to find 3-4 min. of free time then 2 hours.

- It's fascinating seeing how they approached the marketing.

- Some trailers are edited together so well, it's like watching a short film, or a music video if there's a great score with the trailer.

- In the case of B movies, sometimes the trailers are better than the films, and give you the jest in 3-4 min.

- Then there are of course the trailers with deleted scenes that have never been seen again, or the teasers with footage shot specifically for them.

- Finally, there's just the nostalgia behind them. I'm sure we can all remember seeing certain trailers in the theatres, and the excitement behind them.

There's a reason there are several trailer compilations out there, and a decent following behind them!

Very excited for this release as I've never seen ANY of the Before films.

Plus that Amazon price screw up makes it that much more exciting.

I can't believe I will actually have this trilogy in a Criterion boxed set on blu-ray in three weeks. Unreal. Such a dream come true.

What on earth are you talking about? I'd LOVE to see some actual examples of this. Sounds like "get off my lawn" ranting. Trailers show a LOT less spoilerwise now than they did before the 80s or 90s.

Regarding the calls to keep on topic, if someone goes on a tangent there's no reason to yell about it, especially when the release isn't even out yet so after dissecting the couple of reviews/screenshots there's nothing to talk about other than gloating about a discount you got a while ago or sharing shipping notices

Speaking of which, I didn't know that 39.95 was a mistake. I just ordered it as soon as I saw it on the bar at the top of the site. Now that I look at list prices, this is considerably more of a mistake than the Lone Wolf and Cub one!! Guess I lucked out.

Can't wait to get this. Never seen these films, and for $39.99 it was a steal.

You and me both.

When I get it I will crawl under the blanket on my couch, pour a drink or four, and just dive into the films and the extras and my life will be this world for how ever many hours it takes me.
