Yeah, the summer box office has been poor. Hopefully next year, we will have a better one.

The box office is down but the box office value for movies released on home video this year is actually up 7.2% due to Star Wars. Most of its box office (over $700 million) was from 2015 but the movie was released on home video this year. Star Wars (and the previous movies riding on its coattails) is the main reason Blu-ray is still up.

Pretty much a carbon copy of last week. This time "Sausage Party" going up against "Train Wreck". These last few months have been like a train wreck for Blu-ray. The momentum has become completely derailed and the YoY gains are almost gone (still up 0.8% for the year).

Yeah next week will be up for sure. Finding Dory got 70% BD share which is excellent for an animated movie.

It was stupid to stagger the release. I think everyone sees it as a cash grab IMO.

As a side note and off-topic, my Star Trek Beyond Bluray came with a digital download which also works with ITunes. No mention of streaming and no mention of UV despite the picture of the phone, tablet, etc.. on the back and a purple background. Really, really odd. I wonder if they have conceded defeat about UV in the U.K?

Yeah, it beat week 2 of Sausage Party. Frankly I was hoping for something better than that. I think Disney lost some sales by not releasing it at the same time as the 2D version. But at least they did release it.

True, but I wasn't even impressed with the 3D at the cinema. It was average to me. I spent the money on a couple of vintage 3D films.

I think many had the same idea. Just get the regular Bluray or wait for the 4K version (if, when it comes)

I'll get the 4K version when it comes out for sure. Hoping Disney jumps on the 4k bandwagon soon.

The 3D is fantastic on it imo. It has everything you want in a 3D experience. I don't get how anyone can say its bad. Maybe something is wrong with your setup.
I do hope they have learned from this and release Rogue one on 3D Blu-Ray the sametime as the 2D Blu-Ray

Nope, my set up is fine. It was like that at the cinema. Not many modern 3D films blow me away, they are all much of a muchness. I prefer vintage 3D these days. It's more the exception to the rule if I see a quality 3D film. Gravity was amazing, it's my favourite modern 3D effort. It used the technology superbly.
Final Destination 4 was a poor film but it also had very good 3D.
They played it safe and messed up this generation.

Yeah bout time we had a good week. Hopefully BF and Xmas sales will be strong and finish the year right. Gonna be touch and go whether Blu-ray finishes the year up or not. Would be disappointed if it doesn't.
