I have now ridden a skeleton horse, met a lady cooking in a garbage dump and bought a house.
101/120 Shrines completed now. Found at least one that can't be completed until after defeating a Divine Beast, so I'm guessing there will be one like that for each region meaning 116/120 is the best you can get prior to actually passing the main dungeons. Yep, took me about 4 tries but I finally got it. |

I ran into an NPC that talked about being able to revive horses that died. I haven't come across how to do so yet though. I am still not using horses though as I find it so much easier to sprint/glide where I want to go because of the wonky horse controls.
They range from seconds (ones that require intricate puzzles/fights to get access to typically are just a chest and a spirit orb) to several minutes depending on how good you are with puzzles/combat. The large majority are puzzle shrines but there are a number of combat focused ones where you have to take out a mini-guardian of varying strength. |

Who's brave enough to purposely try to kill Epona just to see if you can? I don't use her, keeping her at the stables, just in case, because I don't want her dying on me. So when I wanna ride, I typically grab a wild horse. I wanna know if she's unkillable before I take her out.

I'm not that far in just about to do the fourth shrine in the great plateau.
But I found that stasis and boulders can lead to some rediculous things. example you can cling on to the bolder after you have hit it a couple times and when stasis ends it will sling you across the map! Also saw a guy beat the game in an hour..... |

Made solid progress toward getting to my second dungeon, which will be the one in the desert in the
[Show spoiler] area. Got into that village and working on the quest to get the needed item to get to that Divine Beast.Loving the game, but still torn between whether I like it or Horizon more and which to pick when I have time for a session! |

I wish these clothes had better protection, because they are so cool and I wish I could wear them all the time. But they're only really good for sneaking up on things.
![]() Unaltered images pulled directly from MircoSD card in spoiler: [Show spoiler] It kinda sucks that even in TV Mode, screenshots are only done at 720p. And the meta data sucks, everything says it was taken in 1980. But I guess most people wouldn't bother putting their MicroSD card in the computer, and thus wouldn't even notice. Oh and I finally got around to changing my HUD to Pro, as you see the screenshots don't have any extra stuff. |

Verdict is in....there are 118 Shrines available without completing a single dungeon
![]() Guess that means I'll be tackling my first dungeon (maybe two) this evening to wrap up those last two Shrines and get my reward. We haven't really mentioned it here but, I am absolutely loving the simplified combat/weapon system in this game. No carrying around dozens of items to chose to fight with. Sword, bow & shield; that's all. I personally would like them to stick with this type of mindset or at least a more limited arsenal going forward as well. I have spent hours doing a lot in the game and no progress whatsoever, I am in awe with all the little details and things you can do in this map... I haven't been this excited for a game in a while |

![]() I've had an absolute blast going about the game this way and even with all of those Shrines, there are still big chunks of the world that I haven't even seen yet ![]() By finishing all the available Shrines first, I'm going into the first dungeon with 22 hearts, 3 full stamina bars and a large array of high power weapons. Going to tear that place up ![]() Quote:
![]() The lack of additional category or considering those things Key Items makes you have to prioritize certain things more which I think fits pretty well with the higher difficulty level of the game. |

Did you buy the DLC pass? Are you going to play this again on hard mode when Pack 1 is released? I still haven't bought DLC yet, I'm waiting to see what kind of "new story" Pack 2 has before I make my final decision on buying or not.

Well the Divine Beasts take much less time to beat than expected, but I will say I was very pleased that it wasn't a case of seeing the size of something from the outside and then having this MASSIVE area inside. I hate when games do that.
One of the battles was a little challenging at first because of the speed and being able to 2 hit KO me (even with 22 hearts and maxed out armor ![]() The reward for beating all 120 shrines is (spoilers for anyone who doesn't want to know): [Show spoiler] Quote:
No interest in hard mode, the game is plenty difficult already and Zelda has always had its own built in hard mode by doing the 3 heart challenge. |

Looks like BOTW is here to stay as the #1 rated game of all-time on Gamerankings.com. Feels weird seeing it ahead but I'm glad it overtook Super Mario Galaxy, which I personally think is a massively overrated game due to the crappy Wii remote controls.
