I specifically remember the one around the dirty magazine scene. Thanks for clarifying. These are not deal breaker issues by any means. There is no complaint on my end, I was more concerned about my bluray player as it was quite expensive and I don't want to buy another one.

I'll have to check this out. My projector is pretty much as good as it gets in faithfully reproducing 24fps, so will scan these scenes to see how noticeable.

Could just mean they want to get rid of the large back stock of the old Code Red titles, as right now the Dark Force shop looks more Code Red than Dark Force.

I think DeFalco is just a pro at creating controversy marketing by the way he words things. This thread is on fire compared to other recent start-up labels. Its already eclipsed in posts in three months what the Retromedia thread had in three years.

Every controversy, more exposure, more sales, etc...

So he's like the Lavar Ball/Shia LaBeouf of the BD biz? Everyone thinks he's a clown, no one can stand him, no one wants to buy what he's selling, but man he gets a lot of posts on online forums about what a joke he is. That would be the theory of, "No press is bad press."

Not carrying water, just making an observation. Also, I'm definitely not the "pile on" type of guy, nor do I care much about perception of others about what I post (should be obvious ). As you said, the theory of no press is bad press. Its much worse to be irrelevant/unknown than to be controversial.

Can't be too much of an idiot if he already has Kino distributing his label.

Controversial indicates that some people love his label and some hate it. This thread is nearly 100% negative. Only positive comments I can see are the sycophants on FB, who have to be personal friends of DeFalco.

Controversial just means people are talking about it. Doesn't really indicate love/hate. The word to describe love/hate scenario would be polarizing.

As a parallel, WWE figured this out a long time ago with their marketing. They've been pushing controversial figures for a long time. Strong bad reaction, strong good reaction, both at the same time, it doesn't matter because either way the viewer is engaged. No reaction, that is the death knell for a wrestler's career.

Despite all the "oh i'll never order from these guys / again" posts I guarantee if they announce Rituals BD or the like next week most of these same folks will be slamming the order button.

Yeah, you know what I mean though, in the end if it is a desirable piece of cult content not available elsewhere, all of the protesting/etc will be thrown out the window and people will buy it (even if they publicly deny doing so).

So if there's nothing to talk about and all are in agreement, why is this thread up to 472 replies and over 25,000 views in 3 months?
