As long as they don't bodge the HDR10 compression then I'm good with that. I'm hoping that what happened with Deer Hunter's HDR10 layer was another example of dual-layer DV encodes chronically screwing the HDR10, rather than their HDR10 compression being fcuked at source.

I'm hopeful, perhaps naïvely, that the HDR10 encode is going to look good as they decided not to go for DV on these releases. The DV encode of Deer Hunter looking good at least shows it's not impossible for Studio Canal to get it right. Then again as long as the UHD looks better than the previous BDs I'll be a happy camper.

Lionsgate still has yet to put out a true 4K boxset. Just retailer exclusives like the Best Buy Hunger Games set (just 4 cases in a big slip) or the Walmart Expendables and Divergent sets (which eliminated the BDs and digital).

I imagine when they either theatrically release it or on home video is when Rambo (4) will be released in 4K.

The First Blood bluray I have had a black level issue early in the movie that eventually went away, so the news that there's no DV to cause similar issues makes this even better to me.

More bad than good luck (received 2 orders a week after release date). A recent order did come Thursday after release date though.

I wonder how much inspiration Taylor Sheridan's works is having in Hollywood right now. He appears to have single-handedly revived the Western genre, albeit with a much more modern touch. But I'm all in for this.

This could really end up being a nice, fitting end for the character of Rambo.

Not enough to influence Rambo. Outside of the stuff he's writing (and not all of it is western), no one else is doing it or copying it.
