I guess this set renders that a moot point, anyway. |

Oh yeah, the Mill Creek trilogy release (subtitle issues on the 2nd disc/ third film, aside) was practically an Arrow release compared to the usual Mill Creek release. (The Daimajin trilogy was a nice set too.)

A shame they can't include the MST3K episodes as bonus features, as it would be nice if I could get rid of my Shout! set, but oh well. I never expected it, but considering they were able to acquire public domain dubs I hoped it might.

Can you explain what you're talking about? I didn't hear about any issues between Toho and Criterion and I'm genuinely curious.

Toho is well known for being difficult to deal with when it comes to licensing the Godzilla film library. When you see what Arrow was able to include in their Gamera collection, and contrast that with what Criterion was(n't) able to do with their Godzilla collection, the situations are literally polar opposites! |

![]() Sounds like it will be coming out August 18th now. I just realized there was no mention of the 2016 Gamera concept trailer being included in the set. That's disappointing. |

As a proof-of-concept, basically an elaborate studio pitch, I thought it was great. I wouldn't criticize it any more than that "Gamera vs. Garasharp" segment, showing ideas for an unmade movie with storyboards and models. I wish that was in the set, as well as music videos for the old American "Gammera" song, and the ADV-era "Gamera Always Wins." The Gamera 4: Truth short film would be an absolute find, but considering the legalities, I'm not surprised it's M.I.A. Other than that, this looks to pretty exhaustive. |

Daiei liked to play name games, Toho had Godzilla Destroy all Monsters so Daiei used Destroy all Planets. Toho Had Monster Zero so Daiei had to have Monster X.. I can't even begin to explain Daiei's advertising strategy mindset. |

I don't believe Daiei had anything to do with those titles. I'm pretty sure these are titles that AIP-TV came up with for the U.S. market. The English titles that Daiei used on their Japanese DVD set from nearly 20 years ago were quite different from the AIP-TV titles.
