About halfway through on a smoke break, but all I can say is WOW. Another stellar catalog title from Paramount.

The HDR really makes those Egyptian costumes sparkle, in the most literal sense of the word. Colours are rich and gorgeous as well.
Nice layer of grain is present, detail is plentiful. No compression anomalies that I've spotted as of yet. Will also report for the fellow who was asking, there are no Spanish subtitles, I checked from in the movie.

This is one of those titles you own a massive 4k tv for and it delivers in spades. 2021 is really shaping up to be a spectacular year for UHD.

Can you guys compare running time bluray vs 4k?

I read some new music was added to the 4k version (intro, intermission, outro).

Funny these people canceling their orders based upon one guy's review.

I already assumed that the original 2 Blu-ray discs would be included in this UHD 3 disc set because the extras are identical from both sets- mentioned earlier.

I have no concerns about the transfer, as I expect it will be stellar. This is a Paramount release after all.

Seriously it's a minor quible and nothing to get ones panties all in a bunch, Harris still puts it a "passing" purchase

Yeah, he gave it 4.5/5 stars, not sure why anyone would be concerned.

I'm surely not the only person to note that Harris is not the biggest fan of 4K -- he seems to feel it is overkill for home use. His comments tend to be especially pointed when it comes to older movies shot on film. But later in the thread, he grudgingly acknowledges people with large screens will see benefits over the BD -- which was a fantastic disc to begin with.

I have not seen RAH post on here in forever, but 4.5/5 is still worth it to me. I just need a bigger screen I guess.

The iTunes HD stream which is just 10-15 Mbps looks excellent. The UHD should p+£s all over it.

This is The Ten Commandments, and I don't care what this Harris guy, or anybody else have to say about the A/V quality because he don't have the same equipment that I have, and I want to see and hear it with my own eyes and ears.

Can't wait to see this! It should look awesome. The only thing I worry about with Paramount is the overuse of DNR.......AKA Grease. Don't get me wrong, Grease 4K still looks grand, but as many have stated......Paramount should have layed off the DNR button a bit. I just hope they haven't done a "Grease" job to this classic.

Rest easy, they have not. I only thought a couple shots looked odd but I wasnt able to tell if it was source related, but there was a nice layer of fine grain through the movie and lots of detail.
The only times the quality steps down are during some janky looking effects shots/optical shots, some of which have a similar quality to those in The Birds.

Just ordered. Bummed the 1923 version is not included as I sold off my old collector's edition set in anticipation. (Also for shelf space, sheesh!)

Some of the comments over there are pathetic.

"I canceled my pre-order until it's at a more reasonable price." $20 isn't reasonable? Stick to the Dollar Tree, kid.

Except the 1923 version is kind of boring and awful (a contemporary morality story, not a biblical and film epic like the 1956 version). Not at all like the two Ben-Hur movies, where the silent version is interesting (and the same sort of epic story like the 1959 version).

I did the same, sold my Collector's Edition, but I won't miss the 1923 version (but will be disappointed, should we get Ben-Hur on 4K, and the silent one is not included there).

Still haven't seen this movie, sadly, at least not that I recall. Great to see the old classics on uhd though.

Though melodramatically acted like being filmed on a stage in the 30's or 40's, it's still quite the epic. Big, bold productions like these with those famous "casts of thousands" are still something to see. You have a who's-who of BIG names from the Golden Age of Hollywood all crammed on the screen with scenery chewing villainy from Yul Brenner and the lucious Anne Baxter plus Vincent Price and other giants from the world of film noir and gangster thrillers like Edward G. Robinson.
