If the scalpers put a price as US$200 or even US$300 that would be a problem.

Planes Fire & Rescue is an example of it.

IF DMC ever releases the disc it could actually be cheaper in the end though won't have a Digital or 4K. The bigger advantage is just being able to order directly.

Now I have little doubt that IF DMC ever decided to start doing their own 3D Exclusives people will still complain but suddenly be happier than having nothing no matter what hoops they have to go through. OTOH, I think it's at best a theoretical discussion since IMO the chances that DMC will ever have their own 3D disc lineup is close to zero (but yes, there's always a chance until there's not).
Endgame 3D in Japan is more expensive than Black Widow there, and it was released in most markets. Luky of us that we didn't have to pay over US$100 to get it, because that's the price for it over there and there are versions even more expensive of that movie.

What does that have to do with DMC?

I wish they will hurry with this release announcement globally so that we can know what our options are or lack of. This wait is killing me. Why just announce it in U.S? Come on Disney, I'm still counting on you. Fate of us 3D fans are at your mercy!

Most likely those movies on DMC will be sold at those prices in marketplace if anyone wants them on 3D.

I doubt that... since they will keep producing those 3D blu-ray until there is no demand for them. You might have to pay a little more for it but I doubt it will go as high as some of OOP 3D blu-rays. Those are going for that much since there is no other way to get them now.

So rule of thumb is always buy the 3D blu-ray version when it is released if you want it.

If people join DMC so that can just resale the 3D blu-ray then it will actually be a good thing.

I just don't want to be forced into buy things that i don't want to just to get a blu-ray disc/pack.

No it isn’t lol. That’s one person from this forum trying to take advantage of an OOP title, which is a thing in any type of media, and nobody has bitten at that price anyway.

If movies got released exclusively on DMC I doubt they would be much more than a Japanese 3D release which most people here were ultimately okay with. I expect they’d be less to be honest. Look at my-name-is-Adam’s Indian imports, that guy charges more than Rahul used to but it’s still far less than a MovieNEX title.

I'm just hoping shang-chi gets a release... just not to have scalpers making their day just because these movies got difficult to be found.

.
A disc years OOP is just a little different to be sure as is the case for many OOP items. It certainly wasn't that expensive when it was in print for several years even when it was only a few countries selling it. I think mine was $10-15 from Mexico

Whenever and who-ever releases them are going to have a small but loyal market whether it's RSM, WD Japan, US DMC, or some other source. The question is whether a few hundred or even couple thousand customers is enough for anyone to even bother with from a financial standpoint.

Let's just hope that Chapek keeps shooting both his feet until he gets kicked out of there.

Where do you get that logic from? All the current DMC “exclusives” aren’t anywhere close to that price.

I meant third party selling them.

DMC blus go for maybe twice the price on Ebay that you would expect if they were regular releases. Sucks, but definitely cheaper than the Black Widow deal.

Is there any general date where we should expect whether the movie is or isn't getting a 3D blu-ray release, at least through Japan like Black Widow did?

I agree the Disney Movie Club avenue is maybe workable, but I'm just wondering at what point it would seem like hope is lost for a more regular release like Black Widow had. Maybe I'm asking this prematurely, I'm not sure when the announcements usually happen for these things.

I expect an announcement early - mid November.

Still can't believe we are in this situation with a very limited 3D Blu-ray release in best case for Blockbuster titles...

Looking at the preorder charts of "Dune 3D" and even 5.3 IMDB "Monster Hunter 3D" this feels so damn unnecessarily frustrating.

Even can't believe first bond ever in 3D is likely ending up only flat on Blu-ray Maybe it's all because of an old decision by MGM about Adams Family 3D that was not questioned again...

It's frustrating for sure. Especially when so many blockbusters (all the big superhero ones certainly) are still being released in 3D cinematically, so it's maddening that the conversions are still being made, but potentially just not being later sold on home release. If 3D films weren't getting released at all, well that would be one for thing, but for them to get released in cinemas but just not on blu-ray, that's extra frustrating!

Maybe there's hope that the Avatar sequels will liven up more interest and sales for 3D blu-rays again?

There is hope. James Cameron can help bring back the 3D hype.

IMO the only way Cameron can revive 3D is if Avatar 2 happens to release around the time a brand new (maybe glasses free for example) 3D tech is made available to people, and if it creates a mini revival of strong 3D movies in the cinema, not just mild conversions, that leads to actual 3D demand for home products.

Ideally it would also involve the people in charge of the UHD format adding the potential for 4K HDR 3D to the format, because I can’t see the revival involving 3D Blu-ray in its current format.

Cameron can use his leverage to push for the BDA to incorporate 3D into the UHD standard, which would then push for TV manufacturers to support it.
