I'm looking at the Monitor 9's and noticed on Paradigm's site that the Monitor 9 system recommends the CC-390 center. That center is too big for my space and possibly my budget.

Is the CC-390 really necessary to pair with the Monitor 9s or would the CC-290 suffice?

Thanks
Personally I don't think it is necessary for you to get the cc-390 but saying that I would actually listen to both and see what fits your ears' needs. If you like the cc-390 I would say go for it and then find a place for it. As others have said here let your ears tell you which is the right center for your needs.

BTW I have an old pair of Monitor 9s V.3 and I love them and from the previous posts they do sound better after the initial break in period. I can tell the sound has become brighter and fuller after that break in period.

Sorry you can go to the Studio series speakers. Have you checked audiogon.com or another place spearitsound.com? I have seen some older Studio 60s V.3 on spearitsound.com for $1100 for a pair. I don't know what your budget is but the 60s are some nice speakers ask gates70 about them but he has 60s V.5.

Well good luck in your quest for your speakers and let us know what direction you decide to go in.

I am running Monitor 11's with a cc290 and it works great. No problems at all.

I have the monitor 9's with the cc-290. It pairs together perfectly.

I agree. I just got these three speakers last weekend and they sound great together. I think I remember the dealer telling me that the cc-290 has the same size drivers as the monitor 9's. Anyway, I'm still in the "break-in period" and I think they sound fantastic together. These were the limit for my budget as well but I couldn't be happier with them.

Canada cc-690v.4 or V.5?

Im thinking of upgrading my version.4 cc690 to a version.5 in rosenut.

Mine is a black cc690v.4 id like it to match my towers (rosenut studio 60's).

What do you all think. Is it worth it. or should i just stick with my version 4.

Thanks Rick

I say go for it Rick. If you got the funds to do it I say do it. Do you think you will hear a big difference that is the thing?

Im doubting ill hear much of any difference and i know in my eyes its purely cosmetic but if i can sell off my version 4 i wouldn't be paying much more for a new version 5 in rosenut.

Like i said id like it to match my towers and like the look of the new version 5 cc690's. Im just looking for opinions. I was looking at specs on both and they dont seem much different if any changes.

Hmm.... My girlfriend is telling me to go for it which is wierd hah. I think i could get $850 to $900can for it and i think a new cc690v.5 is around 1100-1300?

Buyer beware Rick . If she is telling you to go for it, that might lead to something she wants down the road. I understand you wanting to match everything to look uniform and nice. I'm like you wanting everything to match.

I know you can find someone to take that beauty of a center channel off you hands in no time. Good luck to you Rick.

Depends what you mean by is it worth it...is worth it for the colour ? That's up to you. Is it worth it for the sound ? I doubt it in just one version. If you'd change from like a v2 to v5 like I did, then ya.

MSRP on a CC-690 if I'm not mistaken is $1499.

I might pull the trigger on these speakers on Saturday.

SE 1 Fronts, SE Center, SE Sub, ADP 190 or SE 1 Surrounds.

My local paradigm dealer called me yesterday, and he sounds like he's desperate for me to come over on saturday. I'm guessing it's the end of the month and he just need to meet his qouta. so i'm going to take advantage of this opportunity. Although, i need a last minute advice from you all. I'm still undecided on my surrounds. My couch is sitting against the back wall. Should i go SE 1 or ADP 190? there are picture in my old gallery if you want to see the room. thank you all in advance.

I've had my SE1 front 3 for about 3 weeks now and they are awesome. The imaging is amazing. If the ADP's are more than the SE1's, get the SE1. If they are only a little less, I'd still get the SE1. I'd rather have a direct speaker that can be reused in another setup easily if I ever decide to change things.

I don't want to completely ruin your whole plan, but unless you listen to a lot of 5.1 music, that's probably overkill for the surrounds. I would maybe look into some Mini's or even Atom's for the surrounds because the surrounds don't have very much work to do. You could then spend more elsewhere. Maybe SE3 fronts if you can do towers, or some nice stands for the SE1's (I use Sanus NF36 for mine). Also, that SE sub is really pretty, but I'd take my $700 and spend it at Elemental Designs and get an A3-300 or a pair of A2-300 or some other internet direct sub. I didn't demo the SE Sub because I've already got an A2-300, so I could be way off on this, but $700 for a 10" sub, as pretty as it is, seems excessive.

thanks for the reply NIN. I think i'll go with 2 SE fronts and Centre tomorrow. Then we'll deal with surrounds and subs later.

ill be getting studio 100 v4's and i was wondering if you guys think its okay to get a cc-390 as a center channel for the studios instead of spending an arm
and a leg on the cc-690.

thanks in advance for the help...

I'd go with the SE1 for surrounds as well.

Jack can you listen to the 100's with the 390 as center? It's at least worth checking and if it is pleasing to you you save a lot of money...
