After a phone call to Sprint, they're willing to cut me a deal because of the issues with my Instinct (having to replace the screen twice in a year), so I could get either the Hero or Moment for the $179 (basically they're giving me the rebates that new customers would get, or people who extend their contract), and then I'll still get to use my eligible upgrade discount (however much that is), since i'm eligible for a new phone anyway.
I'll head over to the Sprint store later, but I'm leaning toward taking my chances with the Moment, and returning it if it has issues. |

Guy must have changed it when I was in the store. I highly doubt that is defaulted to max. Lasted all night without dropping more than 20% from full. Definitely a good sign. I'm fairly certain I'm going to keep this now! Just have to get used to the $70+ phone bill now...used to be 30. |

I still haven't picked up a new phone yet, but will hopefully get around to it tomorrow. The Sprint rep I talked to over the phone said that I could get any phone I wanted, and they'd match the lowest price I could find (even taking into account the discounts given for new plans).
So I see Amazon is selling the Moment for $79, for new service plans. I'll give Sprint a call tomorrow, and see if they're willing to uphold the deal they made with me. I don't think they were expecting me to find it for much less than the $179 they sell it for in their store (for new customers). I took a screen-grab of the Amazon page, in the rare event that they may change the price between now and tomorrow, or whenever I call Sprint back. |

The pricing on Amazon actually kind of scares me, because usually when things are discounted so soon after release, something didn't go as planned. But since phone lifespans are getting shorter every day, I'd rather spend as little as possible now, knowing I'll likely be wanting a new phone within a year anyway. |

Ok, so I finally picked up the phone today.
As I mentioned earlier, Sprint said they'd match any price I could find it for online. So when I called today about the $79 Moment price on Amazon, they refused to match it. They said the best they could do was $159, and then give me a $50 credit for my old phone if I mail it back, bringing the price down to $109. So I hung up and considered that. Then I called back. This time the person told me they couldn't match the $79, and said they couldn't even do the $159 thing. The best they could do was sell it to me for $179. So I hung up. Called back a third time. I assume they keep track of the number of times you call in, because this time the woman asked if I was considering canceling my account. She ended working out the deal. I was able to buy the phone for the $179, and they credited $100 into my account, making it effectively $79. I'll also get the $50 credit when I mail in my old phone, bringing it down to $29. It's nice to finally have some sort of app store, and even though I know the Android Marketplace lags far behind the iPhone App store, I still feel overwhelmed with choices. |

glad to hear you've got a great phone. and trust me when i say android's marketplace is more than good enough. yes the iphone has way more app's (i've got a touch) but android has 95% of the app's you'd want to use anyways.
i mean..unless you planned on filling your phone full of apps like ifart and stuff ![]() |

Out of the box I noticed how great the screen looked, and I remembered the issue The Soviet had, so I thought "I hope this isn't at 100% brightness, because I like it looking like this." So I went under the settings and was relieved to see it was at 50%, yet was still really bright. He must've been blinded when it was at 100%. While I'm not in a huge rush for it, I hope Sprint doesn't take forever with an upgrade for 2.0, because I really just want that Google Maps navigation. ![]() |

Somewhat of an inconvenience.... I can't mount the phone to my Mac. I tried the tips posted by people that I found through a Google search, which involved turning the USB debugging on, and then plugging it in, but that didn't do anything.
So at this point the only way to move files onto the micro-SD card is to put it into the adapter that put that into the card reader for my computer. But I'd rather not do that, because it's a hassle to take the card out. 1. Turn the phone off 2. Take the back cover out 3. Remove the battery 4. Remove the SD card. All I wanted was to copy over some NES roms. ![]() |

For no real reason, I decided to unmount the SD card from the menu, turned off the phone, opened it, took the battery out, took the card out, put it back in, put the battery in, turned on the phone.
And then the USB plug worked, and I was able to move files over. It's hard to play Super Mario 3 on a keyboard, but it was fun for a few seconds. |

I think I found my new favorite app: Shazam.
xtop mentioned it, but for those who don't know, what it does it "listens" to music for a few seconds, and then will tell you the song title, artist, etc. I'm fascinated by how it's known everything I've thrown at it so far. It even recognized that one song was from a live album, not the studio one. I'm not sure how useful it is, because 99% of the time I want to know the name of a song, it's something that just pops into my head, and the app can't detect a song based on my horrible mumbling/singing. But it's still fascinating. |
