I'm still trying to figure out how they got through the army checkpoint when they weren't supposed to? |

It wasn't an army checkpoint. It was a Police Service of Northern Ireland checkpoint. They're not know for the sort of heaviness shown so I was thinking there was something wrong before the reveal that they'd been paid off to get them out of the country. Contacting the police in Stranraer would have been better. They'd be in big trouble if they were caught with all those guns. There's still security checks between Northern Ireland and Scotland where the lads would have caught a ferry. Easy to get 'em nicked. But they wouldn't be able to get out of that!
The one problem I'm having is the accents. Paula Malcomson's accent is spot on. But Jimmy's is ludicrous. I was watching a scene with both of them and wondering wtf PM thinks of Jimmy's accent. An equivalent would be Dick Van Dykes cockney accent in Mary Poppins. I mean, that's better, more authentic than Jimmy's accent. It's so bad it distracts from the show. Myself and the gf just end of laughing our heads off at it. Sorry Titus. Some of the others are nearly as bad. Pity. |

![]() I don't mind Jimmy's accent, I am a huge Titus Welliver fan so it probably sways my judgment, not to mention I haven't met very many Irish in Washington state, lol. Who else do you think has a terrible irish accent? I'm pretty sure that Titus and Bellina who plays Fiona are the only ones doing an irish accent who aren't irish. ![]() |

Well, Jamie McShane who played Cameron has some sort of irishness to his accent, just not northern!! The guy who plays his son, he's not bad, there are actually parts that sound good. Maybe Cameron moved around a lot when he was a kid and developed that strange accent ( could Jimmy have been the same?) In the current season, the priest, not sure where he's supposed to be from but it's not Northern Ireland. Andy McPhee, Belfast Charter President, has some sort of Irish accent but again not Northern. Zoe Boyle who plays the daughter is good. The guy who plays O'Neill is good. Him and Paula Malcomson and the daughter seem to be the only Northerners in Northern Ireland. Even the police aren't local
![]() Still, great series. Be interesting to see how this season ends up. Anyone think Jax was a bit too laid back when the priest said he would hang on to his son for a bit so he'd be safe. He should be very worried if an Irish priest wants to have his son. |

![]() Jax's attitude towards the priest is one of many alarming and annoying things about this season. They just need to wrap this shit up already and get Abel home. Us massive fans do not wait 10 months a year to get a season like this, I am just at a complete loss..... |

My ma's from Ulster so perhaps I've an advantage. I can do a fairly good northern irish accent which even southerns find fairly convincing. My attempts at cockney accents usually fall flat. Probably give Dick Van Dyke a run for his money.
There again, what do you think of all those foreigners doing American accents: Charlie Hunnam is from Newcastle. Does he sound convincing to you guys. Then you have Paula Malcomson in Deadwood. Sounded good to me. |

![]() The entire time I watched Deadwood Paula never made me doubt she was American, it was only last year that I read she was from Dublin. Her accent was flawless. I tend to try to ignore the terrible american accents otherwise it detracts from the show for me, like Andrew Lincoln the new lead of the Walking Dead, if I paid attention to how bad his southern accent is, it'd probably ruin the show for me, lol. |

That's what I try to do with sons is not concentrate on the accents.
One thing they've done a great job on is, believe it or not, set design. The interiors of Maureen Ashby's place are just spot on. Someone knows their stuff. Realism like that makes all the difference. Credit to you guys/gals who did that. |

He's supposedly a well traveled bloke, so giving him an accent that wasn't so strong, with just a hint of Irish in it would have been more believable - at least more bearable - but something that full-on? It's either flawless, or horrendous - there's no middle ground with such an accent. Never been a big fan of casting actors in roles requiring accents that are foreign to them. They're rarely done right and can ruin a perfectly good show - and with the talent that's out there in the world, it's just no necessary. |

Then Maureen and Father Ashby have different accents, she's a Belfast one, he has a Dublin one. Seperated at birth. Maybe he was taken to Dublin when he was a kid so he wouldn't grow up into a life.... At one point Jimmy managed at least 3 accents in the one sentence in last weeks episode. Amazing LOL
There's a very good interview with Kurt Sutter on Maureen Ryan's TV blog. Sonny Barger's guesting soon. Maybe he'll sort Jimmy and the Father out ![]() It's here |

I thought the last episode was the best of the season and really tied the third season together. I know many people have had some issues with this season, I have not minded the slower episodes.

If you have Dish Network they are re-airing the episodes that were missed during the FX black out. Channel 101 and 101HD on Nov 15th, 17th and 19th. My guide has it in two hour blocks iirc. Starts tonight.. I think at 9PM CST..I'm not at home to look..

My biggest problem is not knowing where it's going. I used to just sit down and enjoy the hell out of the ride each week, in the previous two seasons because I always knew it was going somewhere exiting. However this season I just don't know if it's going to have that same very rewarding payoff. It's not that I mind slower episodes, I'm all for character development and great story, but there just seems to be a lot of screwing around and avoiding the main issues, and almost none of that character development that should come with the slower episodes.
I don't know where the current arcs are headed, who knows it could really pay off in the finale and everything will be forgiven, or it could just remain a cluster ****. For all the drama this season, there hasn't actually been much character development, outside of O'Neil and McGee I couldn't name a single other SAMBEL charter member, but not only that, those two characters where never even developed enough so that when they died it didn't have really any kind of impact. You'd like to think that when a founding member of the club is killed in such an abrupt way, you'd feel something about it, but McGee was pretty much just a big dude, who rarely talked and never amounted to anything, so that was a real waste of a character in my opinion. I'm just hoping that my faith in Sutter will return when I see where all this is headed. |

One thing about the McGee thing you said by not feeling anything, I agree but Ron Pearlman was so great in that scene it made me feel something but that says more to his acting then to Sutter. Didn't much care for Sutter's interview with MO though. He really can't see the problems and take criticism well, just kept saying the same thing over and over and hasn't got it but I have faith season 4 will rebound. Not every season of every show can be as great as season 2 was. |

Tonight's episode was definitely the best of the season. There was a lot of redemption for the slow pace and aggravating storylines, but during that very long musical segment with Jax
[Show spoiler] I was rolling when Gemma [Show spoiler] So Tara finally has her first [Show spoiler] ![]() Cannot wait for the next two weeks now, looks like everything is finally going to come to a head and we should start getting some major resolutions going forward. |
