That UK tin looks epic...I'm expecting mine any day now from Amazon, can't wait! It looks so much more elegant and practical than the US version.

From what I read on Amazon.UK they are done in PAL.So they are indeed region locked.

(That both sucks and is truly saddening)The best looking version of the BSG Complete Set I have seen and no playback ability on a North American Region Blu Ray Player.

And to make it worse the price was @ $160.00 with shipping to the states.Truly amazing how they get the incredible sets across the Sea and we get (well we got a Big Cardboard Display Holder that loves to scratch DVD's)It Figures...

That is the reason I have not got the set, I got the Alias set done in a similar fashion on DVD, just horrible, disc get damage so easy.

Granted I haven't tried them myself, but I can almost certainly tell you that they are region free discs...there is no PAL or NTSC with HD, unless the extras are in standard def, in which case, only those won't play. I hope someone can confirm that its region free.

In the specs it(sadly)says Region 2 Playback...So I maybe wrong but I am led to think unless you are in Europe or have a Region 2 DVD Player you may not be able to use this set.

I live in England and have this myself. I can confirm that it is region-free, because the discs appear to be identical to those in the US. Here's why:

- They have an FBI warning at the beginning. This is an American thing, not European, which suggests they're identical.
- Every season 1 episode has the American theme rather than the operatic theme that was used in season 2 onwards and in England from the start.

So you shouldn't have a problem playing them on your American Blu-ray player.

Thank You for filling us in on that Valuble Info.
Because it is a purchase I will have to make if it plays here in the US.

So if anyone with a region 1 DVD Player can say for sure if it does play,I will be Most Greatful.

And Thank You Again for the Most Welcomed Info, pabulous.

First of all the set is region-all. ABC
(there's no such thing as a region-less Bluray)

The distributor is PLAYBACK but the discs are made by UNIVERSAL. You can see their logo on the front of the tin in the pictures above.

+ it's reported by a user that owns the set that this is a BARE BONES release.. No extras what-so-ever... WHY ON EARTH would someone want to buy this set if the extras are not there?

edit: all PLAY.com user reviews mention the lack of extras.

They are talking about the DVD release being bare bones, the UK Blu-rays are identical to the US versions with all the extras.

Now that is what I am talking about.

I want that.

I will order it if it is region-free and price is reasonable.

I will also order Highlander and Batman Returns.

It says it is region 2:

Format: PAL
Language English
Region: Region 2 (This DVD may not be viewable outside Europe. Read more about DVD formats.)
Number of discs: 20
Classification: 18
Studio: Universal Pictures UK
DVD Release Date: 21 Sep 2009

SO looks like some one is wrong.
