Just in case anyone is interested, I just posted a few pictures in my gallery giving step-by-step instructions how I filled my VTI stands. I know, its so simple a caveman can do it, but some people like to have visuals.

Yea, I could have done the same thing. The stands come with those coaster looking patches that seal the bottom of the tube, and I installed them of course, but I decided to go ahead and use the panty hose anyway. It worked out fine.

Nice looking stands. How much did you pay for them and which speakers are you using them for?

Congrats to you and Cali8055 on your Energy purchase. I love my RC bookshelves and LCR center. I'm always blown away how good these bookshelf speakers sound compared to my old Yamaha floor standers. I'm sure you will enjoy them as much as I do.

Thanks Miker...I will hopefully be an Energy owner in a month or so.

I'm hoping that the RC-50s will come back down to a reasonable price like $600/pair but if they dont, I plan on going with the RC-30s, RC-LCR, RC-Rs and a subwoofer. Nice pics in your galllery. What size room do you have?

In terms of power, the 1601 @ 50 wpc and the 5005 @ 90 wpc will only produce about 1-3 extra dbs of sound, so its not that big of a deal, # of watts means less then quality of the watts.
Thanks Callas for your reply. Pioneer VSX-33 is not available in my region though will have check thoroughly.

Does 1-3 extra dbs of sound affect the loudness or quality? 50 and 90 on papers looks big difference. When i used 5005, max i think i can go in music is -10 db and in HT -7 db. Will 1601 suffice to my volume levels with same quality of 5005 ? If possible will save some money for better center and sub.

Miker uses the RC-10 bookshelfs as fronts, and the stands I believe he paid about $130

Seeking, I paid $110.00 for them at racksandstands.com. I'm using them for my RC-10 bookshelf speakers for my front L/R. Top picture in my HT gallery.

I'm using a small 10 x 10.5 size room as my home theater. The RC-10's fill the room. If I ever go to a larger room I think the RC-30 would be sufficient. Either way you go, 30's or 50's, I think you will be satisfied. Some have the RC-LCR's across the front and say they sound wonderful as well. I would actually love to have 3 RC-LCR's as my fronts. Those extra mid range drivers really add a lot to the sound quality.

I currently have a little more than 50 hours of playing time on my new RC50s. Everyone was right, these speakers do start to come alive with the required break-in time. I am not great at describing sound on a technical level but I know for a fact these are starting to sound different for the better. When I first fired these up, they played a really weird futuristic, echo, spaceship type sound. That only lasted an instance. I could tell there needed to be some warm ups these speakers needed in order to sound great. I was patient.

I guess these speakers were a little forward or bright to me at first because the bass still needed to get worked in. I could hear the highs quite well and the tweeter sounded a little more pronounced than everything else. At 50 hours in, the sound is just great. I think things have mellowed out a bit and the transition from highs to lows is very smooth. The bass is really tight and accurate now, but I can tell it hasn't hit its full stride yet. I never thought a pair of floor-standers on their own could produce such great bass.

I think I am starting to appreciate "warmer" speakers. The details on these speakers are incredible. I am really looking forward to what 100 hours can bring. I was afraid these speakers would not live up to my expectations, but I have to say they've far exceeded them.

My RC-LCR should be arriving sometime tomorrow and I am looking forward to breaking them in also. I hope my RC-Rs get here by Saturday so I have some time to experience 5.1 glory. I haven't heard much about the RC-R needing break-in time and was wondering if anyone have any suggestions for that.

I just wanted to share my love and excitement for my new Energy speakers.

Default Bic lcr

Any suggestions on BIC VK-6LCR (Kevlar Cones) for center speaker matching with RC50. RC-LCR is way out of budget and RC Mini Center not available.

you would be better off not using a center channel and doing what I have been doing for the past 6 months, and that is running a Phantom Center channel. Or buy the CC-10 from Energy.

Ok so I have the Energy cf-50's on order (were just $150 each)
got the cc-10 center ($200)
BIC v12 sub ($183)

Receiver not ordered yet but may go with denon avr-1911 or just stick with the sony str-dh1010 I got for a killer discount ($275 with bluray player)

now I need surrounds....

have a basement which all the doors can be closed but have a stairway going up to the right of the tv

The room is about 12x16

I dont know how difficult it would be to run speaker wire to the rear of the room in the ceiling for the speakers because if that is a complicated task I might have to go with a rear wireless speaker solution.

If running wires isnt to difficult which surrounds should I go with?

Should I just match the front speakers and get the CR-10 Surrounds or some CB-10 bookcase speakers for the rear?

(sorry speaker noob but want always wanted a home theater in the basement / never ran wires before)

I would do the CR-10 Bipole design allow a bigger dispersion than monopole or direct radiating speakers altho the CB-10 would be great surrounds as well.
