I have access to Netflix, but I rarely watch anything on it. I find most of their stuff to be derivative, mediocre, and entirely disposable. Not worth my time even for free.

Now that Prime has added commercials, this SVOD is dead to me. I will not renew my Prime membership this year. This will be the first time that I have dropped it; I have had it continuously since its inception in 2005. I don't see any value in it now.

I have no need for Disney+ whatsoever.

My digital collection benefits my family and friends and once in awhile I will use it like I used to use a brick and mortar disc rental store or cable TV. You can often "buy" a digital copy for about the cost of a rental, so it is a way for me to try out movies that I am curious to see, but unsure about owning on disc.

I ditched cable TV 10 years ago this summer. I haven't missed it. I love the fact that I seldom see any commercials now.

I subscribe to Prime for next day delivery but I don’t really use the video service, even though it’s essentially free. I watched a show last year, but that’s it.

I like my satellite service Sky, it’s 4K and some channels are full HD. The navigation is good and I like recording shows on the planner. I simply fast forward through the ads.

You may remember that I trialled the tv with built in Sky for my bedroom, but it made more sense to just have regular Sky Q box in living room and then a mini box for an extra 6 per month for the bedroom.

Some may consider it obsessional, but my HT is reserved purely for films. (On disc)

I agree with many of these.

Netflix seems to be about 86.57% garbage that isn't worth watching even on a plane.

I haven't used prime video in years and there's no way I'm going to consider it now with ads.

I have Disney+ for my kids. I try to get into some of the stuff on there. One of my kids likes to watch the Marvel stuff with me so like I would watch Loki season 2 but I now have to wait to coordinate. Looks like Fifty Shades of Sharks has been removed by Disney+ and I'm ok with that. I regret trying to watch that one.

We subscribe to Apple One and that's a pricey one that I would like to drop but I do use and prefer Apple Music to any music streaming service.

I have never paid for cable TV.

I am traveling soon and will be interested to see how much I rely on these services on the road. Thankfully, I don't travel often as it's not really something I enjoy.

Speaking of Ads - > I do subscribe to some youtube channels (I have never paid for youtube which I guess is a thing now) but I tend to watch those on my computer and mute the ads and if I happen to see or hear an ads it usually biases me against whatever the product is.

Blu Rays are forever but my time is limited.

I don't aim to control everything in this life but I will try to live out my days without ever having an Apple Persona.

On the other hand Quest 3 is very fun and recommended if you are willing to let Zuck have some of your lifeforce. I made a Meta account with my spam email account and I don't do anything "social" with the headset. I'm really enjoying it and thinking of gifting one to my daughter because she has a midi piano and the PianoVision app is amazing. You can wirelessly connect PS5 controller and Sideload the PSApp and RemotePlay android apps and the Quest 3 becomes very similar to the popular PS Portal with a much larger simulated screen.

I think I may have a problem, though as addictions go I guess there are far worse than physical media collecting. Got some Birthday money and decided to place another DMC order.

My FOMO (hate that expression but appropriate in this case) got the better of me so I pre-ordered the next wave of Disney+ Steelbooks. Yes, even Obi-Wan Kenobi. If nothing else the artwork is stunning. Plus all 4 were $17.98 each due to the 60% off. Hard to say no at that price.

Also picked up the DVD special edition of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It has a bonus disc of Special Features not available anywhere else. I'll get a 3 disc Blu-ray case for those and my Blu-ray.

Buying too many movies on discs is my FAVORITE problem.

Come to think of it, .... it's not actually a problem.

What you have is a passion. Huge difference.

I am debating ordering that DVD myself. If you REALLY want all of the extras for this movie consider getting the documentary Operation Undersea 1954. It's available on Vudu (FAH), but it's not on sale at the moment; the regular price is $14.99 for HDX.

I had not heard of that but just looked it up. I will definitely consider the digital version if it goes on sale. Thank you sir!

My Adblock Plus browser plugin does a perfect job at blocking ads on youtube. I never see ads when I watch with my computer.

The UHD version of Butcher's Crossing has dialogue and sound effects coming from all channels. The audio on the HDX version was correct.

The movie was about the slaughter of buffalo just for their skins. Fairly good as a movie but not a repeat for us.

I don't pretend to understand the IT wizardry my son works within our home with all the old Raspberry Pis we have lying around but I'm told that one of them keeps us from seeing most of the ads that many are complaining about. YouTube gets quite a bit of play on various boxes, laptops and phones in my house and we NEVER see ads on anything... I know that the experience is very different in my phone outside my house which my son decries is the result of the "Spyware " that my company insists I have on there in order for me to meet their security standards..lol..

As far as broadcast TV is concerned..I pay for the total package as various members of the family have different watching habits..I really only watch the news and hockey... both slightly time shifted so commercials and intermissions are not a thing for me... my theater is reserved only for movies and hockey...I still watch quite a bit of NETFLIX on my phone for documentaries and stand up comedy specials...I live in an area where AMAZON often delivers sameday so PRIME is essential..I pony up for the commercial free as I've had it for half price while my son was in school and will continue to for the next 3 years of my daughters education..

Speculative video but I believe it. Sign up fees is sort of genius.

The Disney Movie Club has now charged my card for all three of the Cameron 4K discs, so that seems like a promising development.

Edit: I just got my shipping notice for all three; soon I can be outraged, too!

At least I got my Wish today :

I have said for awhile now the “cancel anytime” would become much more difficult to invoke. Sign up fees is one method. I can see it now: Sign up for Disney+ for six months and we will waver the $30 fee*.

Credits: Kanopy already uses a “Credits” system. Can certainly see where other streamers will start this as well.

*In tiny print: Wavered fee only applies to new subscribers.

I don't much care what the subscription streaming services do as I don't spend a plug nickel on any of them directly.

I get Max included with my phone plan; I sure as hell wouldn't pay to have it otherwise. Same with Prime; I have had Prime since 2005 for the once upon a time 2 day shipping perk and that was ages before they streamed anything. As I said, I will be cancelling Prime when my current subscription expires on June 30th. because they no longer offer any benefit to me.

Some good may come from the SVODs nickel and diming their customers to death; maybe some of their customers will decide that streaming isn't the bargain that they thought that it was and decide that their money is better spent elsewhere.

Do you or anyone else know who makes the clear case as used by this title? It seems a lot more robust than most BD and UHD BD cases. I Know Viva Elite makes some clear cases but they have their brand printed on all the cases (Blue & Black) I have made by them.

I have no idea.

Maybe someone in the Arrow thread(s) would know? You could also ask Arrow directly, but their customer service reps. can be a little thick. You might be able to ask if you could buy some replacement/ spare cases and see what they say, too.

Edit: I found this link to Arrow UK where they sell empty cases. They say they are made by Viva.

SINGLE DISC 15MM BLANK VIVA BLU-RAY CASE:

DOUBLE DISC 15MM BLANK VIVA BLU-RAY CASE:

https://www.arrowfilms.com/double-di.../13324920.html

They sell black 4K UHD cases, too:
