For me the top three Marvel films are Guardians, Winter Soldier and Thor.

By the way, am I the only one who was expecting Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak" to be playing on the Walkman when Quill went back for it in the prison? Or would that have been too obvious?

"It doesn't "deserve" the scores it's been getting."

LOL

I guess it deserves the score YOU give it.

It was "ok" nothing great, but then again most "comic" films are just ok (save Keatons Batman, Spiderman 2 and Nolan's Dark Knight series which are materpieces). I actually got sucked into going as I don't go in for these same film different hero type thing very often.

It's weird because I'm totally on the same wave length when it comes to this films as the general public are but when it comes to the superhero genre in general, I couldn't be more opposite.

The Dark Knight Trilogy...masterpieces? Did we watch the same three movies? Ledger's performance as the Joker was phenomenal but I don't really rate anything else in those films.

Avengers the best film Marvel have produced? What better than Guardians? Really? I wouldn't even put Avengers in the mid-tier of Marvel films.

And why specifically Spider-Man 2? It was just a rehash of the first film, which in my opinion is much, much better.

Don't get me wrong, love the hell out of GotG. Still plan on seeing it for a 3rd time this week, but until I give CA: TWS another proper viewing on blu-ray next month (), I can't bring myself to call this the #1 MCU film until I give TWS another chance. Either way, two of Marvel's best movies have been released in the same year, so that's an accomplishment right there.

Umm...yeah. This should need no explanation at all. And a rehash? I think not. Not even close....

Both Doc Ock, Green Goblin and The Lizard were all basically exactly the same character in the movies, only redressed. They used the same plot outline, the same techniques and arc trajectories. Spider-Man, however, had the best actor out of the three playing the villain and what it was doing was still fresh, and unknown that it would then be rinsed and repeated through the franchise.

Just saw it. I thought it was enjoyable although I thought a comparable movie in Serenity was a bit better.

I'd say within the MCU, Avengers was flat out better. It's comparable to anything else in MCU (I haven't seen IM3, TDW, nor CA: TWS).

I'd say that while the visuals were great, the characters were not that interesting. Rocket Raccoon was the only one I really liked.

I find it hilarious how those who were not in favor of this movie by given it 1 or 2 stars keep coming back to the thread to hit the "Thanks" button on comments that backup their opinions lol.

I have to put Guardians of the Galaxy over The Avengers regardless of how much I love the Hulk.

1. Guardians of the Galaxy
2. The Avengers
3. Winter Soldier
4. Dark World
5. The First Avenger
6. Thor
7. Iron Man

That's what makes horseraces.

I'm not sure that I'd call them "masterpieces". That's a description I would reserve for films like Lawrence of Arabia or Casablanca or A Clockwork Orange. But as far as superhero films go, I do think they are the best of the bunch (with one exception: I still think The Incredibles is the best superhero movie ever). Where I differ from the mainstream is in thinking that Batman Begins is the best of the trilogy.

Yes, really. GotG pulled it together in the third act, but seemed to meander too much for the bulk of it. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but found it a bit too unfocused in the first half to think it top notch. The Avengers was very focused, had very little wasted screentime, a better cast, and Whedon accomplished the near-impossible by actually managing to give The Hulk an honest-to-God personality (not Banner, but Hulk).

One might look at it as a rehash, but I disagree that the first one was better. I think the effects in SM2 were better, the script was tighter, and most of all, Molina gave a depth to the character of Dr. Octopus that was lacking in Dafoe's depiction of the Green Goblin. It's not often that the villain of the piece garners sympathy as a tragic figure, but Molina pulls it off masterfully. Dafoe just comes off as generic bat-shït crazy.

I saw it for the second time again in IMAX today. Way better use of my time than that waste I saw on Friday, TMNT.

If you're referring to me, I actually enjoyed the film, but you have no right to put down those who are allowed to voice their differing opinions.
