You tell me? Maybe something from the Warner Archive as WB doesn't tend to upgrade the streaming masters to the new ones made for the line and their lineup was announced this week

Or maybe it was Kino, Arrow, Criterion, Imprint or whoever announced an old movie getting a new 2k master recently that pissed you off. You tell me

At this point the less computers in my life the better. I'm enjoying this one and for what I do it's more than enough.

I'm using it to collect and store pdf documents and to calibrate my projector. I hope to venture into computer aided audio calibration via REW soon.

It was better than I was anticipating. Love Lizzy Caplan and Anthony Starr gives a creepy performance. I quite enjoyed it and will probably catch the disc on sale.

I would NEVER consider building a computer that requires plumbing. High powered electrical components and liquids are not a combination that I care to risk.
Yeah, I remember when you posted those specs. Very nice!

My CPU has been on a 240mm AIO cooler for over 5 years now. My 3080 GPU that I've had for a couple of years also has a 240MM AIO. I've never had any issues.

There are two reasons I'm planning on doing custom water cooling:

1.) I've been building computers now since 1997. I kind of want the challenge of putting together a true showpiece system. Plenty of lighting and clear, hard tubing with UV coolant. Plus an LCD screen either on the CPU block or elsewhere in the system to monitor stats. I've never gone all out on a build so I've been having the itch for a while. I may hate it and go back to AIO's but want to give it a shot once in my life.

2.)With modern CPU's and GPU's the only way to get the maximum performance from them is to keep them as cool as possible. I know some air CPU coolers can match AIO's, but a custom loop is the best way to keep the components as cool as possible. I like to run my games with settings as high as my system will allow and plan on getting a 4K Ultra Wide OLED monitor. So I will need to keep the system chilly to pull maximum frames.

I've had a Toshiba laptop since 2011 that still runs great. I've updated the RAM and installed an SSD, so I'm sure that helps. But you would never guess it is a 13 year old laptop by looking at it or using it.

I'm a PC enthusiast and just enjoy building custom systems. If I could find a job building computers all day that paid what I needed I would never work another day in my life .

I totally get that. I wanted to do that myself for quite a while. Have a small shop and be a Value-Added Reseller. I still volunteer IT support for my church though I don't attend often. It's also one of those things that doesn't mind if you get really into it.

It's fun. Anything involving electronics is fun and captivating for me. Logic is fun and it can be frustrating in times when logic fails to apply to the situation at hand.

I'm simplifying at this point and trying to be very in the moment and reduce my interests to have more traction with them.

The new ROAD HOUSE on Amazon: Video - UHD @ 15 Mbps, Audio - DD+ 5.1 @ 192 Kbps.

Have you ever considered a standard EIA 19" industrial server case for your computer builds? Amazon (here) and Newegg (here) have quite a few.

Used one for my 2003 HTPC build. It is the case just left of the oscilloscope. It has an older MB with Windows 10 Pro. Don’t use it near as much as I used to do. Because of the weight I mounted heavy duty ball bearing drawer slides to the case, makes for a much easier remove and install.

Picture not current, have made several changes.

If you do not have a calibrated microphone then have a look at the MiniDSP UMIK-1 here. They also have a calibrated SPL meter here.

I have both of those. Cross·Spectrum Labs provides a thumb drive with the correction data so you can enter into REW, TrueAudio RTA, etc.

No. not really. I enjoy showing off the internals of my PC, especially if I build a custom loop. If I ever get around to a true home theater setup I will consider one for an HTPC. But for my main gaming system I like showing it off.

This is a picture of my PC when I first built it with my old graphics card:

Watched the first 3 episodes of Man Hunt on ATV+ and it's a great show so far. It's based on a book, which I checked out from the library. Will probably read it before the series concludes.

I also got up to E5 of The Gentlemen, another stellar show via Netflix.

I've got a 9-day staycation as of now, so I will be lining up some theatrical viewings. Seeing Last Night with the Devil Friday night in Laser AMC. GxK in Dolby Cinema Saturday night. I might watch Immaculate or In the Land of Saints and Sinners on Sunday, but we'll see if I'm not too tired, or just watch them next week.

I saw that American Fiction is now live on MGM+, but it's only in HD.

My house is full of old tech that, much to my wife's dismay, I stockpile in case I can "repurpose" it at some later date... between work and school laptops, I could not tell you how many laptops I currently have lying around but it is easily north of 12....

One of them has been repurposed for HT calibration with JVC's AUTOCAL, REW, MSO etc...it has all the manuals , tutorials and test patterns/tones for my gear.

I know that there is a newer UMIK available but the original has always served me well...as far as an SPL meter goes... you will have to pry my trusty old analogue RADIO SHACK meter from my cold dead hands..LOL

I too have a Radio Shack 33-2055 SPL meter. It is fine for comparing different sound levels*, it is not suitable for measuring absolute sound levels or frequency response.

*As in matching levels in a HT with multi channels of sound using shaped pink noise as used in many AVR’s and AVP’s.

Given my backlog of higher quality titles, it's doubtful that I'll ever get around to watching ROAD HOUSE 2024 even though I have PRIME and pay for the no commercial option...
I can't truly remember what I watched last on that service, but it was more than likely some kind of inconsequential rom com that was produced inhouse and thus exclusive to AMAZON. I don't have the means or the inclination to try and capture the real-time stats as I watch, but my experience has been that they seem to devote more than enough bandwidth to these types of presentations than they do to most of the offerings I watch on SHUDDER through the same account which I watch on my NVIDIA SHIELD.
On a related note, I have access to demonstrably better streams on the same box through a KODI NETFLIX plugin than I can access through the official app. I pay for the top tier and am using the same credentials in both instances but am definitely accessing different streams with much better A/V options than I get on the native app.

I'm not disputing the technical superiority of physical media. I get that the numbers don't lie for how bit starved the majority of streams are... and I haven't watched the title in question to judge with my own eyes... but I have definitely seen some pretty impressive streams on my setup.. whether or not anyone else thinks my gear measures up.. and my experience has been that the best of these seem to be reserved for the in-house productions on the various services....I just wonder if all of us are getting the same streams from the same servers...

Started watching first episode of Palm Royale on ATV+. Looks and sounds stellar. Funny, too.

My 4K disc of PI came in along with my BD copy of Amelie+Steelbook (review copy).

You're right the Studios do control the Distribution of their Movies and TV Shows, but I've always said it's all Digital. All my Collection of 1000+ is either HD or 4K, and the only time I would tell is if I wanted to upgrade from HD to 4K and if there is a new File I can upgrade for a price. So that new UHD 4K Distribution I can buy if I want to upgrade. Not a problem nothing lost, it's a File on a Server!

I'm glad that your machines have stayed cool and dry. If I had tried liquid cooling I probably would have electrocuted myself, set the house ablaze, or likely both.

As for video game settings, I have no trouble playing my games at the so-called "ultra" settings. The Noctua NH-D15 may be a CPU air cooler, but it is a beastie of one.
