Didn’t help that in my late teens I was at a party (which I wasn’t enjoying) and someone spiked my drink when I used the restroom. Only utter morons would do something like that. If I did have a party though, you lot would be invited! ![]() |

Your Roku TV may one day show ads when you pause video on your Apple TV
Roku is exploring ways to show consumers ads on its TVs even when they are not using its streaming platform: The company has been looking into injecting ads into the video feeds of third-party devices connected to its TVs https://www.lowpass.cc/p/roku-hdmi-ad-insertion-patent Geezums.... there's no end to ads. I recently watched a Roku TV and when we were watching something the TV said it was also possible to watch the same thing using another service. Even though, you know, we were already watching the thing on the service we purchased it on ... why woudln't we want to explore all the other ways we could watch the same content ? |

Some commercial movie theaters at theme parks have not only 3D but also other neat things for entertainment like vibrating chair, water squirting during certain scenes, etc.
The BDA should consider adding scent triggers for home scent machines. Then during a certain part of the 4K Blu-ray movie the Blu-ray player could tell the scent machine to send ocean scent or cut grass scent during a lawn mower cutting scene. This Gamescent company has created a air machine that can put up to 30 scents in the air (up to 30 scents are suppose to be offered by the end of the year). However instead of there being a trigger in the videogame or movie to turn scents on or off, instead the Gamescent air machine that sits in the home theater or gaming room uses some type of microphone that detects audio environment of different environments and will release a scent for that environment. But the ideal air scent machine should have a wired cable over ethernet, RS-232, or USB so that the director of the movie or game developer can trigger what scent they want sent and when, instead of using AI to listen with a microphone. Quote “GameScent has developed its own “scent release system” for gamers that utilizes the recent breakthrough of deep learning audio AI to trigger the dispersion of specific scents into the air when appropriate. For instance, when the GameScent system recognizes that the player is in a forest, it will release an appropriate scent, which the company says smells like “ancient pine and earth.” https://www.svconline.com/proav-toda...our-video-game Last edited by HDTV1080P; 04-05-2024 at 10:01 PM. |

I had an uncle, when he bought a car with an 8 track player built in he was sure that was the end of records, when walkmans helped push audio tapes he was even more sure of it, CD, ipod even more so. I always find it hilarious when people proclaim the end of any physical media that has something more to offer for people who care for that "more" |

not for me. movement is cool, but I don't want my HT to smell like a dump or crap because the scene takes place at the dump or an outhouse. Honestly even if it is lavender or baking 9pleasant smells) I would not want that infestate my HT either. |

My long overdue Cameron 4K discs should arrive today via the post.
Avatar UCE 4K Avatar 2 UCE 4K Aliens 4K True Lies 4K The Abyss 4K This was from the DMC deal that my friend ordered them for me. It's been over a month now, so it did take a while. Demand was super high, so lots of orders have been taking a while to fulfill. I started watching Sugar on ATV+ and that was great. I will be seeing Monkey Man in Dolby Cinema tomorrow. I am really stoked for S1 of Fallout which should be out Thursday evening via PRIME (all episodes!). I have one episode left to go for The Gentlemen on Netflix. |

You could purchase 3D analglyph glasses at the corner store. One week they included a scratch and sniff card. If memory serves, it was colour coded and a corresponding coloured dot would show up in the corner of the screen. I can't remember what movie played.. but the whole thing was very "Count Floyd"... Back in 1994, the Fox network had an event spread across two nights that they called "Fox-O-Rama". I found some old commercials for it on Youtube which I'll will include below. Based on those commercials, this was in early May of that year, so almost exactly 30 years ago. The first night included an episode of Married With Children in 3D (requiring 3D glasses), and an episode of Living Single in "Aroma Vision", requiring some scratch and sniff cards. They also had episodes of Martin and the short lived George Carlin Show with their own in-show gimmicks, but I don't think either of them actually required the viewer to have/use anything like the glasses or cards. The second night was the premiere of Revenge of the Nerds IV, which was made for TV, and used both the 3D glasses and it's own set of "Aroma Vision" cards at certain points. Per the first video that I linked below, the whole thing was sponsored by 7-Eleven. The ad also mentions needed to go to Subway to get the kit with the 3D glasses and scratch and sniff cards. Though I could swear the kit was also available at 7-Eleven, too (which would make sense since they sponsored it). I remember this well because I actually got the the glasses and the cards. I seem to recall getting my set from 7-Eleven, but again, this is 30 years ago, so maybe I'm mis-remebering that detail. In addition to seeing the commercials on TV back then and getting the kit, I recorded everything from both nights on a blank VHS tape. I actually did write "Fox-O-Rama" on the label (an exception to my normal habit of not labeling blank tapes and then struggling to find something when I wanted to watch it at a later time), and I slid the 3D glasses and the cards into the cardboard sleeve that the tape came in to save it for future viewing. I probably haven't watched it since the mid 90s, but I still have a bunch of old blank VHS tapes that I recorded things on which I haven't touched in YEARS, and that is most likely among them with glasses and cards. Since it is all on one tape, I likely recorded everything in EP/SLP mode, which allows the tape to have a longer running time, but at a lower quality than SP mode (which even the best VHS quality not being great to start with), and with the tape sitting for about 30 years and degrading over time, the quality is likely complete shit at this point. LOL The embedded Youtube videos are in the spoiler tag below: [Show spoiler]

The smell - o- vision event I'm recalling would have been at least a decade earlier on a local Toronto station (CityTV).. I believe the 3D feature was in black and white as many of their 3D features were older SCI-Fi fare from the 50's...If memory serves..LOL.. |
