I believe someone is selling a vintage sniff card for a presentation of a John Waters movie that aired on that same channel a few years later than the one I'm struggling to remember

I still have that particular Odorama scratch & sniff card. It is included with my laserdisc copy of Polyester. The last time I checked, which was a few years ago, the card still worked. The laserdisc itself has not aged nearly as well, however.

I still have quite a few Laserdiscs lying around my HT long after I've given away my players... I'm sure they're all rotted out, speckled messes at this point.

Theme parks have been using scents in their attractions for years, both at Universal and Disney. I know the Despicable Me ride at Universal Studios Orlando has a banana scent at one point and features a "fart gun" at one point with a corresponding scent.

And I know there is another one where there is burnt wood and the smell that accompanies it but can't remember which one. It does really help with the immersion of the experience.

Happy Total Solar Eclipse Day!

I live in the path of totality and the skies are clear so far! I have my eclipse glasses at the ready!

Me too .... Not a cloud in the sky. I have already looked at the sun with the eclipse glasses for practice.

I will que up Dark Side of the Moon Atmos Blu Ray soon and then I will be able to see the eclipse from my own yard and have 2 pairs of glasses in hand though I will probably be alone.

It the world doesn't end then I'll start working in cooking dinner as it's my night for that.

I have a great view of this from my own yard! So fun.

We had 99%. Went for a family walk with the dog. It was kinda neat how fast you could see it getting dark by the second.
It was weird with with the whole neighbourhood coming outside at once in the middle of the day. For reasons, other than my personality (if you can believe it), I'm the most hated man on my street...lol.. so it was a bit awkward..

Somewhat curious about your standing with the neighbors. Barking dog? Loud music? RV parked in the driveway?

Must be a wonderful experience. I remember the last total eclipse we had here in the UK was back in 1999, but only the far south-west of England experienced it. I live further north therefore it was only a partial eclipse from my location. However you could still see the light fading momentarily.

Next up for me tomorrow is:

[Show spoiler]I will be traveling to St. Louis to have a radio frequency neuroablation performed upon both sides of my lumbar spine at the L4-L5 and the L5-S1 vertebrae pairs.

My pain management doctor will be inserting about 8 four inch long needles, each one almost as thick as a large wire paperclip, into my spine to literally burn several of the sensory nerves. They heat each of the selected nerves to 80 degrees Celsius (176 degrees Fahrenheit) for up to 90 seconds each. This is supposed to relieve my back pain by about 80% for up to a year. This procedure can be repeated.

Patients have described the pain of this procedure as anywhere from very unpleasant to blindingly excruciating. I have to be awake in order to answer questions as they perform it, so I can not have much pain medication. Due to my heart condition, there are some risks to my experiencing so much significant pain during this 30-90 minute long procedure.

I will have an increased risk of falling for 8 hours to a full day afterwards as this ordeal can cause dizziness and problems with balance and the use of my legs. The recovery period takes up to 3 weeks and during that time my pain will be worse than normal.

On Friday the 12th I return to St. Louis for my four hour long infusion treatment. It's going to be very difficult for me these next three days.

For the curious, you can see the size of the needles in this video at the 3:35 to the 5:00 mark.

The first four minutes of this video will show these needles being placed. This patient is only getting four needles inserted:

Please wish me luck and I hope that everyone will be having a better week than mine.

Wow, daunting for sure. Hope you get a good night’s rest to face what’s coming.
Try to remember some of my biggest and most alarming prediction posts and it may cancel out the other pain!
Also keep thinking it’s all digital over and over!

We can get you through this!

In all seriousness though, very best of luck, I’m sure I can speak for everyone when I wish you the best possible outcome, and we will be thinking of you tomorrow and over the coming days.

Looking forward to you posting here again in a short while.

How I wish it was all digital, but it sure looks like old fashioned analog pain to me! But hey, at least the connection will be hardwired for the fullest experience possible.

Thank you. Humor always helps.

I also noticed it also gives an expiration date for the code right on the front. I haven't seen that before either.

LOL... That sounds like my dad... Poor white trash from Tulsa, Oklahoma...

Nothing as pedestrian as that... A land developer wants to buy up the neighbourhood. They have very grand plans and everyone in my neighbourhood has signed "contracts" with them contingent on me selling up.

My house is dead center of the most important street. None of the plans work unless I sell. It's gotten quite nasty as, up until recently, I had no plans to sell until my kids had finished school and had some idea of where they might want to settle. Now, I'm thinking my house won't be worth anything next year.
