There is also a lot of handheld work in the new Nicolas Cage film Arcadian. It's not an action film so isn't as jarring but still made me wonder why the director chose to film it that way.

Hyper realness I guess, but it can become annoying.

I recently watched Ambulance which at certain moments utilized some as well. Even though it was not excessive, I still wondered why Bay decided to go that route. Side note though, the UHD is one helluva disc from a video / audio standpoint and the movie was solid entertainment once suspension of disbelief kicks in.

I am happy to have Ambulance on UHDBD. It's a little silly at some point but it's never anything less than entertaining.

If you like 3D, Check this post out...

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1249

almost 150 legit downloaded 3D movies mostly or maybe all of them with Dolby Vision HDR and Atmos downloaded in the Apple Vision Pro. 44 from Disney+ and 99 from iTunes. Doing the math that's about $30/Movie. The guys storage is also half full with music so a lot more 3D movies could be on there.

I think I want one of these now. I don't like the tethered battery or the fragile front display or the "personas" or the Eye Sight feature but going anywhere with 150 3D movies to watch sounds pretty dern nice. I hope rights can't be revoked by remote control but I would do what this guy did and fill the storage and then put the thing in offline mode forever more.

If I could download any of the digital movies I own in UHD I would.

Also, Anyone can go demo the Apple Vision Pro in an Apple Store. I did and can recommend it. Unfortunately the 3D Movie playback was the least impressive thing about it. They had a clip from Super Mario World but the pass through was showing the inside of the store which had a lot more depth than the 3D movie image which was in a window. As a result ... even though I did the demo I can't really say how the experience of watching a 3D Movie on the AVP is.

Meanwhile, they are pondering 24/7 fast channels for Disney+, the downside being they will still need a subscription despite being ad supported.

FAST stands for Free Ad-supported Streaming Television. If it requires a subscription it probably won't be free.

Most likely first and foremost is cost. Shooting handheld does not take a crew and most anyone off the street could be taught in very little time how to do it. Hollywood and many others are so “me too”, HGTV is popular and they do most everything handheld so we will do also.

To do motion well will require tracks and dollies, cranes, Jimmy-Jibs or Steadicams. All require time to setup and a knowledgeable crew to operate.

NAB Show Streaming Summit: Industry Could Use a Reality Check here.

Quote:
LAS VEGAS — NAB Streaming Summit chair Dan Rayburn delivered a sharp rebuke to streaming media executives April 14, urging them to focus on financial and economic matters and taking aim at the lack of accurate information around viewership numbers and the hype about free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST).

So what you're saying is blow the entire budget on Nicolas Cage and the effects.

Not really, there are good movies made with just a crane and/or a camera tripod, think Hitchcock.

ADD: We had one of these, take out of case, open valve, rotate legs down to desired angle, close valve, open level control, level at pan head, close control. Only required a few minutes to have read to go.

The review of this title here says the video quality is poor but I personally found the picture quality to be exceptional. I am glad I picked this up.

How is the show itself ? Does it have a lot of dark/black humor ?

Thinking about picking it up myself.

I like it. I watched this first season Netflix online a while back. It's fun to revisit it and seems like they have good plans for another season.

As for me
[Show spoiler]I am in a lot of pain since having that radio frequency neuroablation done on my spine. The pain is expected to last at least another week or two. In the meantime, I am on prescription pain medication that is somewhat effective, but it doesn't do my cognitive abilities any favors. If I make less sense than usual, that's why.
