What the man says is true. As much as I find Whedon's stuff pretty meh....

Firefly/Serenity is the major exception to that. Give it a whirl.

Finally got around to seeing Guardians this weekend. Easily the best movie of the summer. Plan on seeing it a couple more times in the theater.

Firefly and Serenity are great. I watch the series and the movie at least once a year.

I had to watch it again (for the fourth time) just to see if I truly liked it or not. I am still undecided. I might have to go see it again.

5/5 from me, one of the most fun movies I've watched recently. I saw it at the Navy Pier IMAX during my trip up to Chicago last weekend and it was incredible on that screen. The shifting aspect ratios were readily apparent and I hope it's the same way on the Blu-Ray. I'll be completely honest since this is probably a very unpopular opinion, but this movie and the Avengers are the only Marvel movies out of Phase One and Phase Two that I've ever thought warranted a second viewing, and I can't wait to pick this one up.

Agreed. 'Firefly' is rated just right.

I'm also glad I'm not the only one who sensed that 'Guardians of the Galaxy' had a great little "Firefly" type of vibe running through it.

My wife and I (and some friends) think it had a Farscape vibe. Earthman ends up in another part of the galaxy, where he gathers together a team of fugitives/criminals who save the galaxy. The group includes a female warrior, a male warrior, a humanoid plant, and a small, wiseass, puppet/CGI critter.

Peter Quill = John Crichton
Gamora = Aeryn Sun
Drax = D'Argo
Groot = Zhaan
Rocket = Rygel

5/5. Absolutely loved every second of this movie. Brilliant humour, beautiful graphics and a good story.

Even less than that for me, I watched it the second time and couldn't believe how quickly it flew by.

Add on top of that what you mentioned about him not being taken seriously, as that is something that gets under his skin as evidenced by his scenes with Thanos.
Agreed

It's pacing is on par with Avenger = perfect IMO
