A long time ago, I realized that I should never give advice to anyone about how to conduct themselves under adverse conditions. I simply see the world very differently than most, and thus my advice just would not hold much value to others.

I simply cannot empathize with anyone feeling one way or another over an attack from some random person in the internet..

I used to think that my inability to value the opinions of others came from developing a thick skin. Having experienced actual physical violence, and the threat there of, for something like the colour of my skin, that I can't change and that I wear every day.

As I've entered the last third of my life, and have taken stock of the relationships in my life, I've realized that my take on things is coloured by my personal experience... I regret teaching my son that boys don't cry and that my daughter had to work twice as hard if she wanted to be taken seriously.... As much as I've railed against change and have been dragged kicking and screaming into this century... and still think we're all a little too into our feelings for our own good...I appreciate your decision to leave if that is what is best for you and your own mental well being.... even if every inclination in my body wants to tell you to exhibit some of this much vaunted British stiff upper lip...

You and I have butted heads in the past... more than certainly on my account... I apologize for those instances..

I hope you reconsider your decision...

Hi, the decision is not just about the two members and the sock account, I wouldn’t be leaving if it was.

It’s about decisions made after the fact. I can no longer post in a thread I love and enjoy writing reviews and offering opinions about.

I did nothing wrong, but due to (in my opinion) pure vindictiveness and hostile intentions from two members plus a sock account, I can now no longer enjoy the forum in the same way I did before, despite evidence existing in that thread that I was completely
innocent of any wrongdoing. I defended myself against allegations in the correct and appropriate manner but alas…….

That’s why I’m leaving this evening. It’s the last thing I want to do, but I feel it is the right thing to do. It’s the principle of it.

Do not agree. A given, when you present yourself to the public you are most likely to butt heads with someone. If we feel we are attacked the natural response is to defend ourselves. However, forum rules forbids us from political, religious and personal attacks post. If someone attacks us the correct response is to report the post and not respond to the post. If we respond to the post then we have violated the rules as well (and I am guilty).

In my young years if I had received $1 for every time I heard “Red on the head” I would be wealthy. In the later 60's people shouted at me “baby killer”, “war monger” and other sayings just because I had to wear a Army uniform and/or because of my short haircut.

Make your on principle, you are likely tougher than the ones trying to an antagonize you. These people could be watching most of their content via streaming on a 39" TV with built-in speakers. They have NO advantage over you. IMO, restrict your post at Blu-ray.com to where people value your views and let things cool down. In time you will look back and see none of it much matter anyway.

For the most part I only look at “List of UHDs that utilize 4K or Higher Masters” thread in the 4K Blu-ray and 4K Movies forum, 4K Ultra HD Players, Hardware and News forum and “Blu-ray Technology and Future Technology forum.

Now, how many here have watched the UHD Blu-ray of The Abyss? Thoughts? Have it but not watched yet. Next up is Dune: Part II

I caught The Abyss when it released in theaters a few months ago in Dolby Cinema and also watched the 4K disc and I think it looks and sounds terrific. Some would say that it's the best of the recently released James Cameron 4K discs. There is one scene towards the very end that looks shoddy but I think that's inherent to the source.

Dune: Part 2 is demoworthy on 4K disc.

Part of me thinks this is "letting the bad guys win" though. Since it's apparently their goal to drive you from the forum.

I've been harassed by a few folks and most of them got permabanned with the occasional sock popping up and then getting slapped down a few days later. Being here since 2006 you see/get it all.

But it's up to you in the end. Sorry this happened to you.

Nothing is playing on my Ear Pods and when I take them off my homepod starts playing my iTunes music.

Second time this happened and the first time I unplugged everything.

I miss when Apple did better. If they are going to be buggy what's the real reason to use the products ? .... I guess you can't argue with how popular they are at this point.

Steedeel, I haven't been on in a few days so I missed all this.
I wouldn't lose that much sleep over it. It's just the internet.
It's where people like that think they have a voice because in real life probably no one listens to them.
They most likely have nothing better to do.

I really would hate to see you leave this forum.

honestly except for reporting there is not much you can do. But, this is easier said than done, don't let him get to you. Don't ruin your mental health because some has a crazy vendetta and too much time on his hands. Just ignore him and live your life the way you want.

You have shelves of physical media hoping that some guy comes in, buys one movie and you make $5 in profit?

Meanwhile, you could put an appliance or really anything in its place and potentially makes $100s in profit.

I'm a die hard physical media collector but I understand their logic. Physical media is best suited for online where it can sit in a warehouse or collector's/physical media shops which I actually think we are going to see more of going forward.

Meanwhile, Best Buy is always trying to push the latest and greatest and for them, physical media isn't it.
IMHO physical media can work well if it is a go to place (i.e. "let's go to X to see what they have there is always a good selection") or a foot traffic place ("I am at Y let's check what they have" or "walking through the aisles I saw Z that will be cool to have") unfortunately for BB it has been ages (if ever)
that they were worth going out of your way to see what they have and (at least here) they are always empty so not much foot traffic to drive the impulse buy.

Best Buy doesn't seem to know what kind of store they want to be anymore.

Whatever they are trying to be, they have nothing left that creates foot traffic. Just how often does my smartphone need accessories?

When I have visited, their stores are a ghost town. Employees outnumber customers ...and they mostly just stand around talking to each other or are playing with their phones; they're more bored than are the few customers.
technically the last time I was there to buy something it was for my phone (charging cable stopped working and it was 20 minutes walk) but would I have gone there if it was not so convenient? no. I can't imagine people go out of their way for phone stuff, like with everything else people can find the stuff cheaper and more easily somewhere else.

that is the problem with BB they keep on adding more useless generic stuff that people can easily buy somewhere else and they are usually not the cheapest option for it. why would I go out of my way to go to BB to order the exact same fridge (since dcx4610 brought it up) that I can buy on-line from many different places, if I want some help deciding on one I am better off with one of the home appliances store that have people that have dealt with fridges for years, and when I buy it I will need to wait for it to be delivered one day (can't walk out with a fridge)

I get the feeling they know this. I have to hope someone made enough money from BB already because it's pretty bleak watching them slowly fade away.

They did me a favor when they decided to stop carrying movies because it was a way of saying you can and should be looking elsewhere.

I am very saddened to read this and your subsequent posts. I want very much for you to stay with us, but what I want you to do is nowhere near as important as what you need to do.

I believe in never saying never; I hope that after taking some time away from the toxic elements of this forum that you will decide to return. If that proves not to be in your best interest, then that's okay. Take care of yourself, my friend, and please send me a PM once in awhile.

I left another forum simply to have less of my "self" online.

I really loved that forum. My plan was to ghost the internet completely but here I am because I can honestly say I love this forum too. I don't always behave but I try and I don't expect any type of justice here as the internet is a rough neighborhood.

I agree. I never saw this in cinema, but I did get the 4KBD and thought it looked great. I had seen some fan restoration projects in HD before but this is superior. My only issue is some shots looked waxy and it's the typical Cameron cyan-biased look. But there's really not anything better so...

I have not seen Dune Part 2 yet.

My home theater has a 3 seat sofa for the first row and a love seat or 2 seat sofa for the back row. The back row is so rarely used it's like new but the front row has taken a beating for years and is going to retire.

As soon at this thing shows up ...

Hope your new Palliser works well for you.

Our first row is a straight row of two Palliser home theater chairs with power recline and lighted cup holders. Second row is a Palliser sectional sofa, it looks like a regular full size sofa but is made up of 3 pieces. The two outside pieces have manual recline. Had to do this because a full size 1 piece sofa would not go downstairs via the stairway. The home theater furniture is now 13 years old. May move it upstairs where it would see little use and get new for the home theater because it is used most everyday.

When I used to attend a theater, I needed to sit in a seat that was dead center of the screen. When I watch a movie alone in my HT, I need to do the same.

This, coupled with the need to have a reclining center chair and and a room not wide enough to accommodate this AND four seats in the front row, led to my use of adjustable beds ( one queen and one twin XL).
