The only way the FF will work is inside the MCU period . Fox should play ball with Marvel or let the rights go back to Marvel . I think when Marvel comes out with Spiderman then Fox will see why .

From a strategic standpoint, I can see why Fox would want to go the darker route. 1) We did the lighter/campier thing with the first two FF movies, and that didn't work out too well. 2) Hey, "darker" worked well for Christopher Nolan with Batman as a polar-opposite remedy to what Joel Schulmacher did with the franchise. 3) If we can make it the same tone as our successful X-Men franchise, that should please our fans and it'll be an easier fit into that world when we attempt to cash in on it with a big X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover movie! I can come up with a response to each of those: 1) Tonally, there was nothing wrong with the first two Fantastic Four movies. The actors and costumes weren't bad either. It was the writing and direction that was poor. 2) The Fantastic Four isn't Batman. Sure you can have dark elements (Dr. Doom) and an ominous impending threat our heroes need to face, but for the most part it should have a light-hearted spirit of adventure. 3) The Fantastic Four isn't The X-Men. Yes, both concepts are science fiction and stem from the same comic book universe, but in my opinion, the sophisticated mutant concepts of the X-Men work better in the movies as a separate world away from other superheroes, especially fun adventurous heroes such as the Fantastic Four. |

I honestly may still enjoy this yet, but my expectations for this are lower than any other film in recent memory save Age of Extinction which is now my favorite of the Transformers. I have to wonder too if the filmmakers are trolling in order to drop expectations so low that people can't help but see it and say that it's not as bad is it looked.

Hugh Jackman had to do reshoots for X2. Unfortunately, his hair looks like a Batman cowl due to the fact his real hair had grown so long for Van Helsing. X2 still turned out to be a great movie. I don't expect as much for this Fantastic Four, though. |
