I have a much harder time with movies that attempt to pass themselves off as historically accurate and then proceed to revise.
I think the insertion of the titular character into key events in history for comedic purposes connotes a lack of will to do that.

I'd say that I loved both the movie and its book... and the book's sequel when they came out. The movie hasn't held up well for me on later viewings.

I will say this... my dad once told me that this was the most accurate representation of his experiences in Vietnam ever committed to film.

Dang, now that’s ringing a bell…I should have noticed the Eureka MoC release. Speaking of whom, couldn’t resist preordering this directly from them with free international shipping:

I've got Les Vampires on BD, funny enough, from KINO. I will definitely be getting set. Will probably go through OrbitDVD.

There are several awful cheap productions with that theme, but we also have the famous Shark versus Zombie in Zombie Flesh Eaters, which is a cheat, but the greatest moment in the history of horror!

We had a good run but I think it's time to turn this world over to cell phones and give them a chance.

What concerts has your phone been to ?

It’s bizarre, isn’t it, and proves that we are little more than apes really. We miss living in a stunning moment in time to record it so we can watch it on a pokey screen which misses the nuances in the first place.

Human beings, innit?

I really don't know why I bought my new phone with 512 gb of storage; I will never come close to using that much. Mostly, I use my phone as just a phone.

Not to sound too much like a millennial, but I couldn't disagree more about the cell phone thing. I just came off of the best 2 weeks of my life and pretty much recorded every minute of it.

I have absolutely no social media presence or apps. A couple of days ago, my wife and son decided that, after a 36 degree day at the Vatican, they would pass on POMPEI and VESUVIUS the following day. So it was just my daughter and I.

We spent the morning going over the video I recorded with my S24. I literally just held the phone to my chest (in landscape mode of course) and never looked through the screen once. The tech is crazy good...scaling the volcano and walking the cobbled streets of the city, the image stabilization worked ridonculously good.

In Florence, I got up and walked the entire city by myself at 5 am. We will go over the footage later tonight... I expect it will be breath taking as that is how I experienced it with my eyes not looking through the screen. The vantage point of the video should be about 1.5 feet lower from my chest height.

Horizon: Chapter 1 was a sprawling epic. I had a lot of fun. It was projected in one of the larger AMC Laser auditoriums. Chapter 2 is in 6 weeks and I can't wait for the 4K discs!

LOL. I love, LOVE Forrest Gump. The "historical revisionism" is done with a lot of winks and humor. Forrest responsible for Nixon's downfall by calling in the Watergate break-in? Come on!

[Show spoiler]In the process of building a new NAS, will use it to mirror my Zappiti NAS or replace the Zappiti. The mother board is a ASUS ROG STRIX B760-I Wi-Fi Mini ITX with 16GB DDR5 memory installed. The CPU is a Intel i5-14500. A lot more horsepower than needed for a small NAS but I wanted something that would not choke on Windows 11 Pro. The heat sink for the M.2 NVMe has been removed but the drive not installed yet, it is a 256GB WD Black.

I have stacks of CD and DVD data disk. For sometime now I have been using USB thumb drives instead of optical disc.

I mostly use my phone for the Regal Unlimited App and barcode. Very rarely write texts or make phone calls from it.

The July 4th holiday notwithstanding, I still have two trips this week.

[Show spoiler]I travel back to St. Louis on July 3rd for another cardiac MRI (my 4th one) and then again on July 5th for my Patisiran infusion treatment. I've got the holiday bookended with medical appointments. How's that for celebrating Independence Day?

Next week I begin my new drug trial, a 6+ hour long session, sometime between the 8th-11th. I should know the exact date after my cardiac MRI on the 3rd.

On the 16th I will be seeing my pain management doctor because I am such a pain in the arse and I have to be managed. Actually, it is to discuss my ongoing back and leg pain problems.

I see my local primary doctor on the 18th just to keep her up to date on what my other 11 doctors are doing to me. That's right, I now have 12 doctors, which entitles me to a free place setting.

The new doctor is a urological surgeon and I see him next month to see what fresh hell he proposes doing to me.

I have been rather limited in what I can do lately, so I have been posting here far too often while saying far too little and I have managed to watch some movies, but not Forrest Gump. I'm not in a Gumpy mood.

Enjoy the upcoming July 4th holiday; try not to blow yourselves up!

Nice Noctua fan! I have 5 Noctua fans in my machine plus two illuminated Corsair fans. When my two "bling" fans fail I will upgrade them to Noctua, also.
