might eventually go for a refurbed onkyo or marantz, but that will prob be a while. might be getting a logitech squeezebox first or might just sit tight as i've bought a lot of crap over the past few months(rc-10s, rc-lcr, and new ps3 slim)... |

What would I connect my rear speakers to on the back of the receiver, the "Surrounds" or "Back Surrounds?" It probably doesn't make any difference, but I only have a 5.1 set up speaker wise, and my rear speakers are currently placed directly on either side of me as I"m sitting against a wall. Just wondering what the best connection would be. EDIT: I just went back to the manual and looked at the speaker configuration chart and it answered my question for me. It appears that it should be connected to surround speakers terminals for a 5 speaker set up. Last edited by Miker107; 03-12-2011 at 09:17 PM. |

Thanks Olivier, that would also make since if I decide to use the Back Surround terminals on the receiver to bi-amp my front L/R speakers as the manual suggests. Would you guys recommend bi-amping the fronts as the manual suggests or no? This is a bit of a learning curve for me so please bear with me.

Trust me, you will too. Youll be amazed at how well the Integra will push and power the RC-10s. |

Dynaudio does not believe in it but does not mean it's bad, I would suggest to try and see what he likes best IMO. Altho fairly efficient the RC-10 can take alot of power, I have seen the Magnet on the Minis and it's huge as hell. I can only imagine the RC-10. Last edited by BigAl87; 03-13-2011 at 03:37 AM. |

Olivier, I did remember months ago you guys talking about bi-amping some place in this thread, and one of the things I do remember is to remove the metal plate that connects the posts. I also read it in the manual this afternoon, but thanks anyway for the reminder. ![]() |

are we talking of bi-amping w/ a receiver? i did that w/ my c-500s back in the day and only noticed a difference when listening to music, and it really wasn't that much of a diff. i've thought about bi-amping my rc-10s off of my yamaha but don't think it's worth the effort. it can't hurt though if you have the xtra cable, and who knows maybe you'll notice more of a diff than i did.
now if you add an xternal amp, then you should notice a diff for music listening. i've been down that path though and think if you have easy to drive speakers, like the rc-10s, then it's just a waste in my opinion. just get a good receiver from the get go and you're good... |

True I absolutely believe in the X-over in my Rainmakers altho they are 2nd order they are hand made state of the art X-over and take a Totem Tech 80 minutes to put together.
Dynaudio surely puts the same attention to their X-over. Just let Mike try his Bi-amping, what if the X-over in the RC-sucks?????? ![]() ![]() |

I know that Vince knows what hes doing, but Im just giving you the scientific explanation. I think tho, that most subs and receivers use 12 db slopes. |

to me as long as the X-Over is superior quality and you have a great amp to power your speaker, i just dont see a reason to use bi-amping unless you have absolute beasts to drive. |

hello all,
i got a deal on some bi-wires. but they are not terminated on the ends. no problem, i perfer raw wire. but on the speaker ends (- & +) one cable is much thicker than the other. which cable is for the highs, and which for the lows? the rc-30's are being bi-wired from a yamaha rvx-657 reciever. |

Agree, I use 14 gage wire and it's plenty but my cables are design to offer minimal resistance. |
