It'd be pretty damn funny if Best Buy brought it back. Don't think it'd happen, but it'd be funny.

I was not aware of Gamefly and DVDinbox offering a similar rental program by mail like Netflix use to offer in 2023. Maybe one day I might try them out after I get through my stack of 4K Blu-ray and 2K Blu-ray store purchased discs. I do not know how many subscribers Gamefly or DVDinbox have, but most likely instead of being in the millions it might only be a few thousand customers or a few hundred customers using their rental program. I hope both companies are a success and remain in the rental business. But it might be another year or two before I decide to try out their rental service, I am back logged on new discs I purchased. I am beyond happy to report that my new TV, the Sony 85" Bravia 9, seems to have arrived safely this afternoon.
![]() I do have a little eARC conflict to resolve, but I think I know what I did wrong. I am too exhausted to test my idea until tomorrow. |

I had eARC problems too. I bought the wrong HDMI cable. It was a one way cable (didn't even know those existed). After replacing it with a normal two way Ultra High Speed cable the problem was resolved. |

I think my eARC issue is due to my using the wrong "monitor output" on my AVR. I have since changed it, but I was too tired last night to do any further testing. Yesterday was a very busy day for me and I pushed myself a little too hard. Quote:
I have not decided what to watch first, but I am open to suggestions. It has to be something that I have on disc, though. I will check how streamed movies look later. I believe that I am now eligible to play with Sony's Bravia Core service, too. I don't expect to be able to watch a full movie on my new TV until Saturday. Today and the rest of my week is just too hectic. I have about 6 hours worth of appointments and treatment at the hospital on Friday with a lot to do before I can make the trip. |

Active HDMI cables have a “source” connector and a “display” connector. A HDMI source can supply the +5VDC needed for the electronics in the source connector.
A FYI, some of the fiber optic HDMI 2.1 cables require more power to operate than most HDMI 2.0 sources can supply. In this case a suitable power inserter will be needed like this one. |

Wow, this helps me out big time, but not necessarily in the HDMI department. I have several Ethernet cables running through long distances and it never occurred to me that I could use a signal extender for that, as well. Are there any Ethernet cable extenders that you would recommend to a novice like me? |

I have no first hand experience with ethernet extenders or PoE (Power over Ethernet), PoE here. My LAN below, transfers between computers and NAS’s typically run about 115 MBps (920 Mbps) which is close to the max of a 1Gb LAN. *Has an error, 100BaseT Ethernet, residential homes should be 1000BaseT Ethernet, residential homes [Show spoiler]
