This is what allows the SEC to dominate the national championship games each year - defense. Look at the difference between the big LSU-Alabama game and the Oklahoma St.-Kansas St. shootout today.
LSU-Alabama: Points - 15 Yards - 534 Oklahoma St.-Kansas St.: Points - 97 Yards - 1,082 |

The Oklahoma/Oklahoma State game is likely going to be for everything for Oklahoma State. I don't see them losing to anyone else on their schedule. I don't see them beating LSU though.

I wouldn't have thought Oklahoma would lose to Texas Tech either. You really never know.

LSU is so used to big games on the national scene. I really don't see Oklahoma State being able to handle them. Nothing against the Cowboys, but they don't match up well against LSU physically or mentally.

Given that the BCS title game is in NO and LSU's two BCS titles were in NO, I think it's going to LSU's year, again. Arkansas is definitely a test for them. They always play close and Arkansas has won 3 of the last 4 against LSU including beating them in overtime during LSU's last championship run...but that year was an anomaly with all the upsets and LSU winning the NC with 2 OT loses.
As far as who they should play if they go undefeated, I would like to see anybody but a rematch with Alabama. I didn't like the idea of a OSU/Michigan rematch a few years ago and I still don't like a rematch this year. |

This always seems to happen to the Big 12. In 2003, 2008 and 2009 we saw a a Big 12 team that scored a ton of points during the season play an SEC team in the title game. All three the SEC team shut them down and won the national championship. Teams like Oklahoma St. never see a defense like LSU in their regular season schedule, and my guess is it would be the same old story this year is we get a Big 12-SEC title game matchup.

Bad sign for Boise St. Alabama lost and still managed to stay ahead of Boise in the AP poll. Looks like they could wind up being one of two undefeated teams at year end and still lose out on a shot at the national championship to a 1-loss team.
1. LSU 2. Oklahoma St. 3. Stanford 4. Alabama 5. Boise St. 6. Oregon 7. Oklahoma 8. Arkansas 9. Clemson 10. Virginia Tech |

Ok, now the coaches poll is out as well. The BCS actually don't use the AP poll anymore. The top 8 in the coaches poll is the same as the AP, except they have stanford #2 and OK St. #3.
As much as I respect Luck and Stanford I would definitely put Oklahoma St. ahead of Stanford. And ya, we need a playoff. |

I agree we need a playoff system... but I disagree that the ranking is undeserved. LSU and Bama were the number one and number two teams. If you look at the stats from the game, Bama actually won almost all of the stats, but unfortunately lost the game due solely to poor kicking. They were two incredibly evenly matched teams, and almost every pundit in the nation has said there is not another team out there this year that can match either of them. Win loss records alone should not be a determining factor in the rankings.

Unreal. The BCS rankings are out and Alabama managed to only fall to #3. Really no excuse for that. Stanford is getting killed by the computer rankings for whatever reason.
1. LSU 2. Oklahoma St. 3. Alabama 4. Stanford 5. Boise St. 6. Oklahoma 7. Oregon 8. Arkansas 9. Clemson 10. Virginia Tech |

http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/bcs_explained.html "On July 30, 2010, the BCS announced that teams which are ineligible for postseason play will be removed from computer ratings for the purposes of determining the BCS Standings." So, without a quantifiable ranking for USC in either the Coaches or Harris polls during this season, it's highly unlikely that either Stanford or Oregon will get full SOS credit in the minds of some voters for having played USC. Also, as has been seen in past seasons, when all else is equal, the computer's SOS becomes the de facto tiebreaker in who gets the BCS MNCG invite. This appears to be unintentional collateral damage to the rest of the Pac-12 conference not considered by Larry Scott and the other conference ADs when this announcement was made by the BCS last year. Remaining silent was their prerogative, but it may come with a cost. Literally. It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch IMO. TLK ![]() Last edited by The Lizard King; 11-07-2011 at 02:34 AM. |
