What did you think of its spinoff, Better Call Saul? I have yet to see any of it.
Better Call Saul was just as good as Breaking Bad but in a different way. The cast is amazing again, particularly Rhea Seehorn. The fact that the show never won a single Emmy is a crime. The conclusion of the show is a an amazing send-off of the story started in Breaking Bad. Can't recommend it enough.

All too often a show goes out with a whimper (Game of Thrones as an example) but Gilligan was able to stick the landing with the ending of two iconic shows.
Couldn't agree more. It's amazing how he crafted a show that was essentially the antithesis of Breaking Bad. Truly remarkable achievement across both series.

Just know you're not alone. You could be describing me with this as well. I know what it's like to struggle to get out of bed every day. All we can do is take it one day at a time and try to learn from our mistakes. If I ever figure it out I'll let you know lol.

At the start of the year, I hoped for Trainspotting UHD (U.K.), Ratcatcher UHD and Dead Man’s Shoes UHD, only Ratcatcher not confirmed, although it is getting a 4K showing at picture house cinemas.

Really hoping it gets announced!

Trainspotting very important as the U.K. Blu had awful telecine wobble.

...includes a Region A blu-ray.

If you do not have the ability to play discs from any region, you really should get with the program and not limit yourself so arbitrarily. It's a wide world; give yourself access to all of it.

Perhaps you missed the "seriously" in his statement?

Its been an interesting year for physical media and media in general.

disney has basically gotten their ass kicked for around 3 years and seems to be pulling away from media in general including disney movie insiders and then the next 2 films they released are record setters.

best buy stopped selling physical media but targets basically fixed their supply problems and back to normal sales.

warner archive is putting out a ton of shows while warner strips and expires digital copies and combo packs lose the combo portion.

most used markets have dropped prices by like half except goodwill which hiked prices by like 50% to double.

anime is basically getting monopolized by crunchyroll buying rightstuf.

big lots is closing alot of stores.

digital sales seem to be worse and happening less.

funimation deleted everybodys digital library.

ads and hoops for all your streaming entertainment.

customer service is just terrible now everywhere.

Things are happening this year but really its been a mixed bag the leans towards anti consumer.

I do not believe for a single instant that Bill Hicks was "seriously" telling anyone to kill themselves. It was a joke, maybe one in bad taste, but that's all that it was: a joke.

If you want to be offended by his skit, you go right ahead.

Disney pulling away from media? Care to elaborate?

The issues I run into in terms of access are minute compared to the options I have via U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Finland, Australia and all region USA. I don’t really want to introduce a new player at this stage, for a very small percentage of titles.

They stopped giving free points for dmi. Stopped giving points for seeing films in theaters for most movies. They stopped selling physical media in Australia. They closed the disney movie club. I believe they stopped making physical media and are doing it though sony now eventually. They cut back movie production by around 75% this year. They also cut spending on disney plus again cutting media production to the straight to plus productions. They skipped having a sale for both black friday and prime day so they haven't had a sale to push media in like a year in a half. They had no 4k general release for most of their films made in 2023.

They are also adding ads and trying to stop sharing on disney plus and hulu though those are more normal greed.

Their customer service has always been pretty bad in my experience, but they never failed to wish me a magical day- right after denying whatever request I made.

A show that has pleasantly surprised me with how much it has grabbed me is True Detective Night Country. I am right at the last episode (only 6 of them) and will be wrapping it up tomorrow. Not the feel good hit of the summer as some bad things happen to a lot of people, but it is worth checking out as it plays at times more like an X Files series. It is nowhere as good as the first True Detective season but way better than the 2nd and better than the third….even if you have to watch Jodie Foster having sex in it.

Side note is that I think it is a toss up between the first season of True Detective and the Haunting of Hill House as the best single season show of all time.
