I understand that 6000 were produced, but I don't know why. Were there that many sold on the first day in Steelbook format? Is FS ordering the minimum amount and taking a huge loss, perhaps hoping to make up the loss in catalog HP Steelbook sales with people who only got Part II and might now be interested in collecting all 8?

Do they have any plans to do something with the excess amounts of "shelves" left over?

Most of the shelves left over will be ruined by poor packing/shipping. My agent said he looked through 50-60 units and most were damaged.

I think if people want to put this up on ebay and sell it for what they want its fine with me. There are some fair people who put up a reasonable starting price and let bidders determine what the thing is worth. Which I have noticed is about $90-100 when it ends. Which is why I think there are a lot of buy it now's for that amount. At $300 the thing will never sell anyway, so don't worry about it guys. He will adjust the price if he wants to get rid of it.

Honestly, if your thinking of holding on to this exclusive, thinking it will be worth more later you might be in for a shocker. If FS was smart, in order to get rid of all the extra Steelbooks, they will probably order some more of these cases and just pack them up together, for like $180. Effectively making the cases worth nothing, and sell there remaining steelbook stock. No one is going to buy a case for $100 when they can get all 8 movies and a case for $200.

Watch I bet it will happen.

[Show spoiler]Now to get rid of my extra Steelbook case.

Exactly just let the market decide. When others sell theirs for cheaper he will either lower his price or maybe he will get lucky on nervous buyer who has $300 to blow. I actually didn't mean to sound harsh in my above post I was just responding to the general thoughts in the thread. My comment regarding the multiple copies was in response to someone who said he will likely post more after this one sells. Although he is still wrong about the total quantity.

I see the description no longer says limited to 750, just rare...

the steelbooks are going on sale for 16.99 on boxing day.. online and in store.. If future shop has extras they should just give them away when someone buys the entire set.

I have a feeling that in a couple of years, many of you will wish you could find one of these for as little as $300.

In a few years blu-rays will be replaced by some other media (if not phased out for straight download/streaming/some sort of cloud manager) and these won't be worth diddly

Happy for others who got theirs, I am waiting for mine in the mail. Should be tomorrow.

If you mean 10 years when you say "a few," then I can see your point. But, streaming/internet data access methods will not be viable as the compression destroys quality and ISPs begin to charge for "excessive bandwidth usage" as a result of these mediocre services bogging them down.

Blu-ray will last much longer than most people believe.

don't blame the seller..... it's the buyer who choose to pay that much for it...

same scenario...people willing to pay $1000 for Iron Man steelbook...more power to them.

if I had these...and a person is willing to pay $300 for each...then by all means...buy buy buy LOL hahaha...I'm not going to say "NO..i won't sell it to you for $300 because I got it for free"

Personally, I wouldn't pay for it because all my G2 steelbooks are stack nicely together on the shelves....this box ruins it and it will need to sit in the corner of the garage to fit LOL.

These look like exactly what they are. A free incentive to get customers to purchase a steelbook. I won't be worrying in a couple of years about getting one. I don't think I could sit through a Harry Potter film for $300.00.

I don't think there is anything wrong with selling things at market value. An item is worth whatever another buyer is willing to pay for it.

I have a problem with people who purchased multiple for the purpose of selling them. I was lucky enough to get mine, but I had friends who showed up at 9:30 only to find them sold out as people walked out the door with 4-5. It's the equivalent of scalping, which I likewise find reprehensible.

Blame the futureshop police about everything. They set the rules and enforce them. If they let people in and "smash and grab" all they want and let them get away with it, then people will abuse.

i've done it myself, I bought 25 Nintendo DS machines on release day and sold the lot for a profit. I bought 20 PSP's and sold them overseas for a profit too.. Because I could.

The world is full of opportunists. I've been on both sides of the fence.. ultimately I just say "you win some you lose some".

The Futureshop closest to me was selling one of these Shelves yesterday for 19.99. Didn't look too banged up either.
