But I doubt they will. Like Sony's previous 3D films, they'll keep it in scope, even if the mattes were opened for other aspect ratios.
That really confuses me since Sony focuses so much on 3D... Yet a bunch of their live-action films are converted, others are in scope(including animated features), etc. You'd think that they'd ask their filmmakers to design their films better for 3D at home/at the cinema.
Yeah i wish they would be more like Warner did for Dark Knight and hopefully do with Dark Knight Rises

I'll avoid hyperbole, and say that both are great, but this one is superior to Spider-Man 1 and 3. Spider-Man 2 remains my favorite.

There are elements of this reboot that are better than the original trilogy. And there are elements of the original that stay closer to the traditional mythology than the reboot.

Peter Parker the skate-rat is new stuff. Modernizing the 60's science nerd w/ glasses motif.

But this reboot spent way more time w/ the love story than the original Spider-Man did.

The animation is "better" but the original was next level when it came out.

This reboot has the luxury of working off of an established franchise. And the reboot also can right the wrongs that doomed the "jumping for the wedding ring" Spider-man by the third installment. I just hope they decrease the love story stuff. This is not Lois & Clark.

The ICONIC Uncle Ben Death is more emotional than the reboot version...IMO.

I thought both handled that very well in their own unique ways. I did enjoy
[Show spoiler]Peter seeking the killer which
drove his realization of what the "great power/great responsibility" message is all about.

Ill disagree that the spider-man mantra was appropriately interpreted that way with him on a one-man comb the city hunt. That's revenge.
In the early comics I thought he just happened to overhear the cops talking about the trapped killer at the docks when he arrived home. And then was surprised that the dude was the murderer when he ran over to the scene of the trapped criminal on a HUNCH.
It wasnt some calculated Batman Revenge effort. The SURPRISE and realization of the Spider-Man Mantra was erased w/ this reboot.

That's my point. I said "drove his realization".
[Show spoiler]He was on a revenge mission until he realized that, that wasn't the right thing to do with his new found powers.
Hence him learning the meaning of the "great power/great responsibility" motif.
[Show spoiler]Some think he was just distracted by Lizard and plans to continue his manhunt. I doubt it though.

But his vengeance changes Peter Parker's core. Hes wasnt built that way.

I forget how they handled or possibly omitted his "I look out for number 1" original idea. They did skip the whole wrestling/gambling backstory.

I do understand that they mined the Ultimate Spider-Man mythos more vs the Stan Lee version which is what got them there in the last 40 years.

I liked the new one, but I prefer the original with Maguire. This one looks like it was made to fit a TV-Series look. And it's probably more targeted to teenagers than young adults/adults. The old ones, we follow Peter after he finish school, find a job and he's more mature even if he's shy and clumsy.

But I loved many scenes in the new one: the fight in school, the ending when
[Show spoiler]he's so beated up and the construction guys help him to reach the building, and i also liked the way aunt may probably know he is Spider-man

When this one is released on Blu-ray, I'll watch the 4 movies in 4 days so my mind will be more fresh to choose wich one is the best.

I fully agree with your point. For me there just wasn't much of a change in this new Peter Parker. I'm thinking
[Show spoiler] that his line to Gwen at the end of TAS about some promises are mad to be broken is that he'll learn a lesson in the second move if in fact the villain is the Green Goblin who may kill Gwen. Something has to come of that as that line does not fall into the line of a true hero even if the request from her father may have been unfair to ask.

If there isnt that much of a change then why do u need a the second movie to prove the mantra?

Like I've said I like TAS, but I also felt it was kinda unneeded and not as good as the original trilogy. It's essentially the same as the first movie with not as great acting (minus Emma Stone).

Guy gets bitten by a spider. His uncle dies. An influential person gives himself a serum/potion that turns him into a green bad guy.

Except the original film did it better.

Not as great acting? Are you serious? Have you seen Tobey Macguire and (to a lesser extent) Kirsten Dunst act in the Spidey films? :\

The take in Amazing is much different from Raimi's version. That one was bright, cartoonish, and silly. This one is darker, more serious, and yet captures Spidey's sense of humor so much better. I always wanted a Spidey movie played straight and with decent special effects and fights, and now we finally have one.
