I was a hunter so I had a rifle and shotty.

I also noticed mobs respawned fast in a couple points. Guess you could grind levels there or something.

After you finish the lone story mission and get your tower upgrades you can go back to the zone and do patrol missions from beacons. I spent around an hour doing this and got lots of loot from mobs. Mostly whites but I picked up 4 encrypted engram which can be turned in for a green quality item.

Played for a few hours earlier and really enjoyed. It felt more like an MMO than I was expecting actually, and not in a bad way. The visuals are really nice and the controls are tight. I played the first mission then explored while doing the repeatable side missions. Is there more to do on Earth, or is that the extent of this particular build? I also played a round of Team Capture on the Moon and had a lot of fun with that. I think it's safe to say I'll be holding onto my pre-order.

I had a brief go this morning and was pleasantly surprised. Destiny hadn't really caught my attention to be honest and I didn't really "get it". But I liked what I saw and considering this is an Alpha it looks fantastic.

I'll play it through over the weekend but it's certainly looking like a purchase

Although I don't normally like multiformat exclusive deals; Sony have done a great job getting early access to this and BF Hardlines for PS4 players.

I checked my spam folder and no codes.. the only thing from them is when I signed up for the Alpha that night to confirm.

I got the Alpha code yesterday evening (US Central). A Coworker got it at 4 AM this morning. So appears to be a staggered release.

I think they're doing it this way so the servers don't get a battering.

I was on last night and didn't bump into another player for about an hour then I started seeing the odd one pop up here and there.

Yeah, it was kind of that way with me also. First time I played, I saw a few other players. Later, I didn't see another player, even at the tower. The last time I played last night, I saw a bunch of players and a several of us were doing the beacon thing. It is kind of interesting to be doing your own thing and in the distance see this battle going on. Run/ride over there and see other online players taking on enemies and then join in. Pretty cool even though I wasn't part of a group or anything.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying the game. Pretty awesome!

I still haven't gotten mine either so who knows. If nothing else the official beta starts on July 17th and I know I have a code for that one because of my preorder. I am hearing very good things about the game even in Alpha stage so I think I will keep my preorder.

Halo and Borderlands. Plays like Halo and has the open world exploration with loot like Borderlands. Not so much warframe since everyone only has one super ability active in alpha.

This is what my buddies tell me but I never played BL.

So here is my little summary so far after about 5 hours of gameplay last night. From talking to a buddy of mine it sounded like Destiny is pretty much Borderlands 2 with insane graphics. You start off by selecting the species you want to be (my guy looks like a frost giant from Thor - how can you be a boring human in a game like this) and adjusting things like skin tone, hair color, etc. From there it takes into the dropship cutscene and you are off and running.

From the beginning you are dropped into a area where you must traverse the landscape (which is ginormous) taking out any baddies on the way until you reach the radio tower. The outside environments are just insane, the scale is off the charts and the visuals are mind blowing..especially for an Alpha. Once I got in side that is where you could see some of the best visual. With the dark corridors and early noises it made for a really intense experience. There was actually a part where you are in a pitch black room with only a flashlight. As I was going through I started to hear some noises moving around me and all of the sudden Alien style comes out a horde of some crazy looking creatures. Believe me when I tell you that this made me jump in my seat and got the adrenaline flowing...I have not had an experience like that in a game in a long time.

As for the guns and your guy...customization galore. I did not get too much into that so maybe Red or someone who played more can talk about it but there is a lot to do. I only had one gun at the time that I could customize and I had not ranked it up enough to do anything by the time I got off. As for the soldier itself, there is just as much to do. From upgrading your helmet, armor, boots, gloves, it is all there and it all makes a difference. Again, I did not get to do a lot of this but I have a feeling I will be able to over the weekend.

All in all I cannot wait till this comes out. I never really got into Borderlands and I thought it was because of the play style, but being as I like this so much I think it was just the paper style graphics that threw me off (I know, it is a bad reason to not play a game). As it stands I cannot wait for the Beta to drop on July 17th.
