Less likely though to be "ruined" with a 4K scan as grain is less predominant at that stage because of the higher resolution. Older scans often made grain blocky and thick from lack of resolution. I am not saying there couldn't be some DNR applied if the source is truly as grainy as some claim, but I think the odds are a lot less in the case.

No matter the res of the scan, the cheap way of doing 3d would be a standard degrain, if they add grain back like Titanic or leave it off like JP who knows

That’s the new. For the old there’s the John McTiernan commentary track, along with text commentary by Eric Lichtenfeld. Both are excellent, and well matched by the making of “If it Bleeds We Can Kill It: The Making of Predator” (29 min.) with then-new interviews with Shane Black, Carl Weathers, Bill Duke, John McTiernan and John Davis, and period interviews with the writers, and most of the rest of the cast, and some of the crew. “Inside the Predator” (31 min.) which offer extended riffs on certain elements of the film (Arnold, Predator Kevin Peter Hall, the make-up, etc.) compliments the making of. There’s two sections in Special effects, one dedicated to red suit used to create the invisible predator (2 min.), and the second to “Camouflage tests” (2 min.). “Short Takes (10 min.) offers four smallish anecdotes that are tangential to the film, but are nevertheless fascinating. There are also four deleted scenes and outtakes (5 min.) none of which add much. There’s a trailer for the film and Predator 2, a photo gallery (which features a photo of the briefly-cast Jean Claude Van Damme as the predator), and a “predator profile” still gallery.

More than likely, the above will be the "out of this world extras" referred to in the Fox Connect release info. Perhaps a few new Fox Blu-ray trailers will be included. Given the amount of data in the 3D release, the extras will be on a separate disk.
Maybe they make a 3D convertaion feature on the 3D disc^^

But to my questions, who is the producer or the manager of this 3D Release ?
On Terminator 2 this was Van Ling, on the Alien Anthology this was Charles de Lauzirika, but here ?

Do you know a Fox Contact adress ?

Its very important, I search a way to inform fox about the bad german audio track with the errors.

Fox germany says they have nothing to do with these technical things.

@HeavyHitter, I found no informations about 4K.

On the twitter conversation Finnsays new transfer, not 4K.

Someone in this forum says 4K, but thats is not a official information.

Regarding German audio errors. Are you referring to translation errors or audio drop outs? Have you tried this for a contact? http://www.fox.de/contact

There is no detailed information about the extras that will be included with the 3D release. Charles de Lauzirika was not involved with the extras on the 2D release. There was only one segment that mentioned a producer in the credits. I could get that, but I don't think it would be useful for you.

The owner of Home Theater Forum spoke directly, in person, to 20th Century Fox reps, who said it was a new 4K transfer.

Well, this is the best possible news. Obviously, there's still time for lots to go wrong, but I'm really happy to hear this...maybe 20th Century Fox can go head and announce 3D sets for the original Die Hard trilogy too, if that gets me the 4K versions.

I would sell my 2008 Blu-Ray if the new 4K remaster speculation is true. I have no interest in 3D (don't even have a 3D display or player capability), but would be happy to get the 2D disc.

Am gonna wait on more news and screenshots before I do anything though.

As this comes directly from 20th Century Fox reps through the owner of HTF, it is conclusively and definitely true. Whether or not that means as much of an improvement as we all hope it does, that's what's still up in the air, and will remain so until the disc comes out. However, I think we an safely take it as fact now that this has a brand new master, and according to a commenter at HTF who spoke to a booth member at SDCC, specifically done as a result of complaints against the UHE...which would give me quite a bit of hope that they would not DNR this one.

Yes I have tried this for contact. But the problem is, Fox germany give a crap about the errors in the german audio. They say they have nothing to do with this, all this things were decided in de USA. Ore they lies, they say the audio have no errors

The errors are lost dialogues and dialogues that are on the wrong place. This errors exists since the first DVD, but Fox fixed nothing.

Sorry, but I think you missunderstood me. I have no interest on the extras.

I ask for the manager/producer for this release, to ask him about the errors in the german audio.

For years a user from a forum ask the manager/producer for the Alien Anthology blu-ray about the errors in the german audio of Aliens(yes Fox germany make a lot of errors) and than the errors was fixed.
Before this he sended a lot of mails to Fox germany, but they do nothing.

This situation are very annoying.

@tylergforster, ok I thought this were only speculations, not direct informations of Fox(because I saw no information about this on the Twitter post himself).

It was great when Fox make a Blu-ray Special Edition of Predator 2, with a 4K Transfer and the unrated cut.

The current transfer has not the problems of the P1 hunter Edition, but this is a outdated transfer.
Its possible they use on this DNR too, they grain looks not so fine or natural.

Fair enough. I know the source isn't the best but with a remaster at 4K with a AVC encode and improved bit rate we should expect a decent upgrade over the orignal 2008 release which was already pretty satisfying given its technical limitations.

If I'm wrong and there isn't much in it then I'll be sticking with the 2008 Blu-Ray.

I think we would see a massive upgrande(see Aliens or Terminator).

More details, better sharpness, strong contrast and nice colors. Maybe the colors ar the biggest differnce.

Its possible that the overall picture is darker and the scene at the beginnig have more red sky (looks more like early in the morning).

Excellent news. If this new transfer turns out to be good, I'll sell the 2008 edition and buy this new edition ASAP.

Has it been confirmed if all the extras are being ported over to this new release?

Wasn't Predator shot on similar film stock as The Terminator and Aliens?

If it was, it can look amazing if transferred properly.

Yeah, that does sound good, especially if the reports of a separate 2D only disc were confirmed. After all, if they set the 3D disc to be able to be played in 2D too, then everyone wins, given that a lot of the speculation I've seen suggests that those who make the 3D feel that something more DNR'd would produce better 3D - 3D disc with UHE-like picture made from an improved master on disc 2 that would appeal to those who prefer the picture closer to the way it originally was would mean that the disc would more or less appeal to all fans of the movie, which makes perfect business sense.

I can't wait for my fox connect head job to arrive. I hope this 3d is as good as its sounding. I don't like to watch 3d movies usually, but for this old school meat bag, I'll make the exception.

Basically (just about every movie shot in the mid-80s would've used the same stocks)... though some people say a lot of the movie was optically re-framed in editing, which would severely degrade the quality of the footage. Not sure how true that is/what the extent of it is, the old blu-ray is mushy enough that it was hard to tell.

I think that the encoding is the main culprit as to why that transfer looks quite mushy. Using MPEG-2 on a Blu-Ray is never a good idea, you get too many compression artifacts.
