I thought it'd be like that at first, because it seemed like a rejected AHS storyline to begin with, but now it'd be stupid to have a 3rd season with new characters after spending 2 seasons with them. I wouldn't watch a 3rd season based on the AHS format.

They should just give is an even shorter season and air it in the summer to wrap it up.

I would love if it gets another season. Even if they banished it to Saturdays... or even if they cut episodes back and just ran it in Sept/Oct/Nov with like 8 episodes or something

Default Season 3 very possible.

Will there be a third season of “Scream Queens?”

Following a sophomore season of declining overnight ratings, TV journalists asked Fox executives about the future status of “Scream Queens” at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Speaking to reporters, including Variety, at the Wednesday event in Pasadena, Calif., Fox’s Gary Newman and David Madden gave a slight update on the horror comedy anthology series. Though they didn’t say whether or not “Scream Queens” would be back for a third season, the execs did tell press members that they are happy with the show and its young demo.

“It’s very much still in consideration for a renewal,” Madden told Variety and a small group of reporters. “The ratings don’t tell the whole story; because it’s such a young audience, you can’t really even see the full picture even in L+3.”

In its first season, “Scream Queens” was set in the college Greek system with the main characters being sorority girls. The second season, which wrapped last month, was set in a hospital and the medical setting was an effort to expand the bubblegum show’s audience to a larger pool of viewers, both male and female. The final episode closed out with 1.38 million viewers overnight and a 0.5 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic.

Ryan Murphy’s strong relationship with Fox could give “Scream Queens” an edge to land a third season. The mega-producer is also behind the studio’s “American Horror Story,” the critically-acclaimed “American Crime Story” and the hotly anticipated anthology “Feud,” all at FX.

Either way, Ryan probably won't care. American horror story just got a two season renewal

S2 was VERY patchy. There was only about 2 good eps in the whole season.

They need to take a year off, get their shit together and come back with something good and not as rushed.

lol that's never going to happen. Ratings were awful and the episode order was cut by 3.

If there's a 10% chance it gets renewed, it will move to FX. They should do the summer camp idea.

It's May, the month where all networks decide which shows to cancel/renew if they haven't yet already. I don't know why FOX is taking so long on this show.

The cast contracts have to have expired by now.

It's not edgy enough for FX, and summer camp should be a AHS story. Scream Queens was already an AHS story reject as it is probably. It's May, but they still have 22 days I don't even remember if they officially cancelled Cooper Barrett or if it just was left in limbo forever like CW did with Significant Mother.

Since Sleepy Hollow was cancelled, I wonder if Scream Queens will move to Friday's?

Yeah, the only reason this show has a chance of continuing (and probably the only reason it got a second season) is because Ryan Murphy is so beloved by Fox. With the possible exception of Dick Wolf at NBC no other showrunner has near the power Murphy has at Fox. If he wants a third season badly enough he could make it happen in some form or another.

Not entirely true. Ryan has more power at FX than he does at Fox. Glee collapsed, The New Normal was cancelled. Comparatively, Shonda Rhimes has a lot of leeway at ABC and Greg Berlanti had half of The CW's schedule this past spring.
