Unless they're rebuilding the DI from scratch, I imagine both of the 4K and any potential Arrow release are going to use the existing decade-old 2K DI as a source.

So we should all be looking forward to the Arrow release even if blu-only to see what they come up with for features.
Arrow version will be better since they'll probably do a Dolby Atmos mix. Pretty disappointing Universal is giving it a DTS:X mix.

Even Kino aren't Atmos-mad though, it's Shout you're thinking of yeah

Nolan doesn't like Dolby Atmos for some reason. His sound is usually fine, but they've gotten worse with each new movie. I could barely hear half of the dialogue in Tenet in theaters and at home without subtitles, it's almost just as bad.

YTD IMDb states 2K for this full shot on film. PS : reportedly no CGI inside.

Most likely upscaled to 4K, but Universal did a good job on Scott Pilgrim, so there's nothing really to worry unless they end up plastering the transfer with DNR like on some recent releases.

Huh. No "CG inside" but what sounded like lots of wire/rig removal, added muzzle flashes for guns, some greenscreen composites and even digitally freezing people to stop a "dead" body from breathing. Hardly completely untouched, as such all that work would have to be done again for a 4K rebuild and I don't think Universal will do that any time soon.

BUT the saving grace is that Tarantino's DIs don't look like DIs, I know that was stated in the VFX article above but it's true, he doesn't like using power windows to grade a film and prefers a typically old-school additive/subtractive approach to the colour timing. So even though IB will shirley be an upscale I think it'll upscale real purty like.

I'm really psyched about this! A bit disappointed no DV but still, I'm sure upgrading the BD will be well worth it. I hope more Tarantino UHD's are on the horizon!

I noticed this the first time I watched it in theaters on opening night but the most disappointing thing was the obvious digital blood splatters as the camera pulls away to the wide/aerial shot of Donnie beating that nazi with the bat when he's on the ground. Some of the background shots through the windows in the farmhouse look digitally composited as well and the cow that is on the left side of the screen in the opening when Landa gets out of the jeep in that wideshot is fully digital for some reason.

Not to mention on location production photos of the farmhouse scene were shot on overcast/cloudy days so I wonder how they even achieved that magic hour shot when Landa walks up to greet LaPadite. Case in point all of Tarantino's movies have had some sort of cgi since Kill Bill. It's still obvious in H8 and Hollywood which shots have some cgi in em

The original 5.1 is excellent, so that is good. But DTS-X or ATMOS would have been nice. I'm thinking Tarantino, like Nolan, has no interest in approving immersive audio remixes of their films.
My source and the backcover only mention HDR10+. No Dolby Vision.

No stupid DTS:X audio on a catalogue release?? Wow Uni consider me surprised. I guess only a Tarantino film can only garner (non-mono) original audio on 4k..

Again, WTF does a US 4K release have to do with a potential UK Arrow BD?

Definitely disappointing that we won't get DTS:X with this, but we didn't get immersive audio with OUATIH either.....If Arrow does end up releasing this then I'll gladly buy it.
