Great. They’ve assembled a well-versed and Star Wars educated writing team. One would think that anyone working on a project like this might want to be familiar with said project content and subject matter.

Chris Terrio wrote Argo, one of the most meticulously constructed, Swiss-watch precise screenplays to come from the mainstream in the past fifteen years. And anointed as one of the American Film Institute's best screenplays of the century, too. That's the kind of metric I judge writers by, not their knowledge of nerdish continuity points over a character's comings and goings from a movie made thirty-five years ago. That's fan thinking, not movie critique.

A reminder that late in the making of Revenge Of The Sith, George Lucas had to be reminded by an underling to go and shoot an insert shot of Obi-Wan retrieving Anakin's lightsaber on Mustafar, because Lucas had clean forgot about that rather important part of his own mythology ('Um, we kind of forgot about that').

The point being, if George freaking Lucas can't keep continuity points from his own decades-old movies straight, then what chance have Chris Terrio or some politely bewildered supporting actors from The Acolyte got?

Fans shouldn't confuse their own neurotic nerdery with that of paid professionals.

This whole series feels less like an actual Star Wars show and more like something trying to emulate it. It's basically Rebel Moon if it were a show licensed by Disney. Much like RM, I'm bored mostly by it rather than intrigued.
I may check it out if they have it on cable if Disney begins showing their D+ stuff on there, but for now, massive pass.
