Great. They’ve assembled a well-versed and Star Wars educated writing team. One would think that anyone working on a project like this might want to be familiar with said project content and subject matter.

Just a suggestion.

There wasn’t enough room on the white/dream board they put together to add “well versed knowledge of Star Wars canon”.

Too many other, more important things like “Protagonist looks like a cool version of Predator” or “cool light saber whips”

Chris Terrio wrote Argo, one of the most meticulously constructed, Swiss-watch precise screenplays to come from the mainstream in the past fifteen years. And anointed as one of the American Film Institute's best screenplays of the century, too. That's the kind of metric I judge writers by, not their knowledge of nerdish continuity points over a character's comings and goings from a movie made thirty-five years ago. That's fan thinking, not movie critique.

A reminder that late in the making of Revenge Of The Sith, George Lucas had to be reminded by an underling to go and shoot an insert shot of Obi-Wan retrieving Anakin's lightsaber on Mustafar, because Lucas had clean forgot about that rather important part of his own mythology ('Um, we kind of forgot about that').

The point being, if George freaking Lucas can't keep continuity points from his own decades-old movies straight, then what chance have Chris Terrio or some politely bewildered supporting actors from The Acolyte got?

Fans shouldn't confuse their own neurotic nerdery with that of paid professionals.

You probably thought that was a zinger. Bless. Doesn't contradict or counter anything I said, though, does it?

Get some rest, pal, 'cos you're going to be busy. The Acolyte is just four days away. Followed soon after by Agatha All Along. Then after that you've got the Snow White remake coming not long after. And then after all that you've still got the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Star Wars movie entering production. That's enough material to keep you busy for years. Your dance card is going to be full for a long time to come.

You need to be ready.

Why do you love Disney so much? Honest question which you avoided the last time asked you.

This whole series feels less like an actual Star Wars show and more like something trying to emulate it. It's basically Rebel Moon if it were a show licensed by Disney. Much like RM, I'm bored mostly by it rather than intrigued.
I may check it out if they have it on cable if Disney begins showing their D+ stuff on there, but for now, massive pass.

I didn't answer because my personal tastes in movies aren't accountable to anonymous random people on the internet.

Anyway, three days and counting mate. Then you can really let rip. There'll be incriminating concepts on a whiteboard analysed like they're the Zapruder film. There'll be two whole episodes of hate-watching to be done. There'll be loads of Nerdrotic and Critical Drinker videos, doubtless with the 'RIP Star Wars' title for you to watch. There'll be more trailers and TV spots for.you to dislike and downvote. Gotta keep fighting the good fight.

And best of all, it's eight episodes, so you get to repeat the cycle and revel in the latest death of Star Wars for another six whole weeks after that. How exciting for you.

It'll be like having Christmas every Wednesday for weeks on end.

TLDR:

I didn’t answer because I’m not accountable to a random person on the net, but now I will respond without answering my undying love for a multi billion dollar corporation that is creatively bankrupt by deflecting via a paragraph of text.

We are ready. For all of it to bomb at the Box office and have terrible viewership numbers. . You’re a trooper, Wally. I give you props for being so devoted to the cause.

I actually am ready for this Acolyte thing. Like most people, I’m expecting very little but want to give it a fair shake. So, I will.

I am active in various movie forums and have never seen such a thing where a studio, NOT its content is the cherished object.

Why can't you be angry at whiteboards same as me? Why can't you trash a corporation on the strength of one word blown out of all proportion? Why are you trying to be reasonable and not construe everything the actors say as a guarantee of disaster.

Why can't you be upset because x actor/actress/writer/director said something I don't like years ago?
