I haven't had a chance to pick up the Carrier yet either, so I managed to snag the Screams/Carrier bundle as well as a few other titles.

Glad I got a chance to order it at a decent price, although I'm not the biggest fan of the way Dark Forces seems to operate.

Yep. Not happy about BBNM at all.

I picked up the Redeemer bundle, which means I will eventually have an extra copy of SOAWN. Grabbed The Strangeness, too.

So, if anyone with BBNM desperately wants SOAWN, I will happily trade what will be a sealed copy.

It's too bad I had to find out about the CR release on the DF thread. Not to but please merge these 2 threads. Frankly, I luckily went to this thread first to find out CR news, which is not how it's supposed to be. Others it seems were not so lucky in securing a copy. Hopefully they will get what they want in the NEAR future. By the way, I think my order # was in the middle 1200's. So I can expect this to ship 2 weeks from now, or have they gotten their shipping act together??
The CR and DF threads should not be merged. DF has put out their own releases which justifies their own thread. It just so happens they also sell CR releases too so it means having to scour both threads even though that tests the sanity of most mortals.

Thanks for the info Twisted! Now I don't feel quite as bad about the blind buy bundle. I am also hoping that Screams is better than several people have said- I love anthology movies and regional 70's/80's horror, so I am hoping both of these will be winners for me!

Purchased "Screams of a Winter Night" on Feb 13 and arrived Feb 22! Was expecting a much longer wait with all that's been going on and also with Dark Force being a smaller operation. The blu-ray arrived in perfect shape and was well packaged too! Definitely impressed with Dark Force and would buy from them again. Can understand the frustrations with the store being opened/closed sporadically but hopefully this will happen less as the business grows and can accomodate high amounts of orders. Also really surprised with all the negative reviews for this movie. It is a more slow paced anthology for sure but think it has one of the best endings of this type genre! Fans of films like Dan Curtis's "Trilogy of Terror", "Dead of Night", etc should really enjoy it.

You spotted them, too? I noticed they seem to have a large supply of copies of Screams, and every time they sell a batch the price goes up a few bucks...

Yep, their latest listing which was posted yesterday already sold 11 copies (2 more available) and the previous listing sold 17 copies; not including the other listings that came prior to that.

I just bought Spontaneous Combustion not that long ago and I don't like feeling I'm being forced to buy items I already have or don't want just to get what I want. Having the bundles is fine, but at least make sure you have enough of the title for single purchases available first.

I'd wager that these two sellers are Bill and the Demon themselves, or at the very least associates of them.

Most likely, found another one called smackdab that has 4 copies going at $99.99 each.

The reality is that there hasn't been a single Code Red release I can think of outside of maybe Necromancy that required people to purchase immediately. Literally everything else was (or in some cases still is) available at cheaper prices then when they streeted. These practices work for the impulsive gotta have it now crowd but I'd be shocked if both SOAWN and Forced Entry aren't available for some time in these small allotments here and there.

I really hope you're right. It is a strange thing to say but, after all these years, I would hate to see that standard change. I have always loved that I can get a CR or Scorpion title, years after it is OOP, when I find out about it, somehow, for the first time or, more commonly, change my mind. I missed just a couple over the years, spacing out, and then there have been quite a few where I hated the film the first time I saw it and, years later, after catching it on TCM/YouTube/Borrowed VHS/DVD-R, I decided I actually liked it. And everything you like will be liked so much more in High Definition. If that after-OOP availability disappeared, it would be a huge and unfortunate change to the brand.

Everything horror runs the risk of going out of print at any given moment so it's always advisable to buy what you can right away to avoid missing out... however in the cases of Code Red/Dark Forces the biggest hurdle is the folks selling them and not a limited supply. All of these releases have at minimum 1000 copies and I'd wager more often then not they have between 2000 and 3000 copies available. Even with the ebayers and the store front we've accounted for what... like 500 copies at this point? The minute this stops being the flavor of the week is the minute folks will stop paying stupid prices for an in print copy.

Nothing Code Red sells is all that well known, and outside of this forum and maybe a few others like it, people aren't going to give a damn about these releases so while I can understand the marketing approach to maximize the amount of money earned, it remains a shitty business model that only creates the illusion of scarcity rather than actually causing it by pricing a title fairly and leaving it up for purchase until it has actually sold through its allotment.

Looks like we can all look forward to the latest DF release next week!:

"IS THIS THE NEXT BIG THING?
It certainly has DARK FORCE written all over it. We will find out very soon as it heads out of replication and into the Dark Force Superstore NEXT WEEK:
Stars the gorgeous Tanya Roberts of Charlie's Angels.

Both the Carrier Blu and screams are great.

Yeah the theatrical cut on carrier is messed up, but the theatrical cut is a weak movie with a nonsensical ending when compared to the directors cut. Even if they both worked, the directors cut it's a far superior movie with better color worth watching over the theatrical - true DNR was used due to severe element damage but enough light grain remains that it's not too distracting. Great film!

SOAWN is excellent if you like the urban-legend esque story telling. A gore hound will find it too tame, but it's a nice spooky little jaunt with fantastic atmosphere.

I wouldn't let detractors worry you about either, both are in the upper echelon of my more enjoyable code red movies.

I would lean more towards associates, based on the shipping alone. A friend apparently decided to give in and bought something from them the other day, and received their shipping notice & tracking number within an hour. I've asked them to let me know if they get a printed label, just to see (since I've heard DF hand-addresses theirs).

Then again, I was joking that they may end up with an empty envelope with it shipping that fast, so we'll see what happens.
