Very excited for Furiosa

gotmule,

Do you have any plans to deal with going from having a spectacular theater to temporarily going without ?

I tend to think if I had to part with my setup for a while, I would want a Apple Vision Pro because of all the 3D movies you can watch on it. It's a drag it's not wireless yet and costs all too much but I am hopeful a new version will improve on both of those concerns.

I appreciate the thought but will just go without it. I had to do it once before about 14 yrs ago when I lived in Houston for work while my system sat boxed up. I will be occupied with setting up the new house and focusing on that first, but for sure be walking downstairs planning and visualizing the whole level. I already ordered a new set of outdoor speakers for the deck and putting together the whole house audio setup at the moment.

Side note is that this will be the last movie I watch before I break down my system for the move to Delaware, and the last movie I watch until some time next year once I have everything built and setup in the new house.
Looking forward to see what you cook up in the new place..

These days, if I don't watch someone alone, it's likely I won't watch it at all. My wife isn't interested in seeing films in the theater that much anymore. She probably goes about half a dozen times per year. Since I'm retired I like to go to matinees and my "movie" friend works late hours so generally doesn't want to go either.

When I use to go to the Cinema it was in Palm Desert, CA and they were matinees I'd go alone. Here I just wait till they come to Streaming, either Subscriber or EST. I can watch all the latest Movies and Series, like Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga!

I meant to start watching Furiosa on 4K disc but got derailed with the excellent Warner Archive BD of The Hidden. I also re-watched the excellent 4K disc of Robocop 2 and I watched it with the Laserdisc audio track it is in included with - it's a stellar release. Furiosa 4K disc is on for today!

Disney wants to dismiss a wrongful death lawsuit because of a Disney Plus agreement

(use streaming at your own risk!)

Almost off topic but insane story about Disney+ terms and conditions. ...

https://www.theverge.com/2024/8/14/2...cription-terms

"Disney wants a Florida court to dismiss a wrongful death lawsuit at a Disney-affiliated restaurant based on terms of service for the entertainment giant’s website and streaming video services."

So if I read this right and I have to keep double checking because it's nutty as can be. Someone dies from allergic reaction at a restaurant in Disney but said person had a free trail of D+ long ago and at that time the T&C means they agreed to not sue Disney and only deal with Disney preferred resolution.

So for anyone in the camp of the T&C means nothing - take note... it means considerably something.

Actually, I think the outcome of this case will be the final arbiter of whether or not they are considerably something... or absolutely worthless..

It's truly a reach that the terms of D+ apply to things beyond the use of D+

For home entertainment I started reading the TOS/EULA when Netflix started streaming and the start of UV (UltraViolet). Little has changed, they have been, are and will continue 100% in the drivers seat. And if they find they are only 99.9% they will change the TOS/EULA and the end user will do nothing about because the user agreed they could do this.

You know almost any streaming service has turned a profit it if it makes a massive corporation impossible to sue by like 80% of the population. I imagine youtube has the same clause which means if they let it stand then alphabet can only be sued by the Amish I guess.
