How would that D+ arbitration clause even apply if this guy's subscription lapsed?

Mad Max and Physical Media

Edit - Linking the article on forbes.com doesn't seem to work so I would search Mad Max Physical Media if you are interested. I've tried to link the article but nothing seems to work.

"Mad Max: Fury Road’ Rekindled My Love Of Physical Media

Somehow, the disc had gotten some dust on it, so partway through the movie it began to glitch. In a moment of sheer laziness, I suggested we just switch over to Max where the movie was streaming. So we did. And it was nothing short of a revelation.

I have a 65” LG OLED television and (at the time) a 5.1 surround sound setup with Klipsch speakers (now a 5.2.1 setup with two Klipsch Dolby Atmos speakers for overhead sound). The TV has a great image, with true blacks and vibrant colors. The sound is phenomenal. But both the visuals and the sound looked egregiously worse when streaming despite a very fast internet connection. It was night and day. The image was muddy and the colors nowhere near as lush. The sound was more muffled, with a huge loss in crispness and fidelity. These are things I wouldn’t have even noticed if I’d started the movie on streaming instead of on a 4K Blu-ray disc."

This has to be the best reason to support PM, the quality!

Like most people as time went by I was able to afford nicer things and I have always loved movies so I really enjoyed going from a 13" TV with mono VCR to a 127" ultra wide screen with a 7.2.4 ATMOS setup. Anyone who has enjoyed upgrading a media system would also enjoy updating it's software. UHD BD is the best quality home theater media (not considering Kaliedescape)

The thrill you get from a better display or a better sound system is the same as the thrill you get from better media.

-Brian

I never left, these articles make me laugh pointing out the obvious, we all know the truth, (well apart from Alchav and fly)

I read that article yesterday. I guess better late than never. I'll never understand why you would invest on an OLED/Atmos set-up and then just settle for streaming. I mean, you've already done the heavy lifting in acquiring the proper equipment/gear, etc.

You guys are stuck with Old Movies, I've been watching Vince Vaughn on Apple TV+. It's a new TV Series, and it's very good!

I'll take the old movies over Vince Vaughn even though I have ATV+

Truth is I'm not stuck with anything because there's more than enough entertainment options to fill the time I have available. It's more like I have to choose what I want to watch.

I haven't heard of the show Vince Vaughn. Is he actually in it?

[Show spoiler]And yes I saw the title of your post. It just sounded funny.

I leave for St. Louis in about 15 minutes.

[Show spoiler]Today I see my neurologist who is expected to formally diagnose me with Hereditary Transthyretin-mediated Amyloidosis Peripheral Neuropathy (hATTR-PN) along with the cardiomyopathy version (hATTR-CM) that I have been diagnosed with since March 2023.

I am also having increasing difficulty walking; I have a pronounced limp now as my left leg below the knee always goes numb when I walk. It's like dragging a stump.

My neurological exams always include my being hit all over with that little reflex hammer that is usually used on one's knees. This gets done to me twice: first by the Fellow doctor and then by the experienced doctor. They then compare notes, so that the senior doctor can evaluate the less experienced Fellow.

After my neurology appointment, I have my Patisiran infusion treatment. It will be another 6 hours of medical treatments plus 5 hours round trip travel time for an 11 hour ordeal today in total.

On the plus side, if nothing goes awry, I get a 20 day break until my next round of treatments. This will make for my longest break since all of this began back in May of 2021. Additionally, a friend of mine is coming to visit me from California this weekend whom I have not seen in 7 years.

I would rather watch an old good movie than a new crap one...IMHO, most movies are crap and I watch a lot of them to find the gems that I will return to many times over...

That's why the present situation suits me perfectly... with streaming, I no longer have to purchase and own a much crap...I get to see the movie ridiculously early from its theatrical run. If it's crap, I don't buy it...if it's good, it makes it into the library and goes into the rotation of movies I will share with family members in repeat viewings in the highest quality..Can't wait to pick up and rewatch THE BIKERIDERS..

Get the poking and prodding over with and then move on to the only thing that matters... the time we have with family and friends...

Another post by that poster proving there is a memory and/or comprehension problem. Most of the disc supporters here have way more streaming capabilities than he does yet he acts as though he is the only one with streaming. Really for him.

That's all you guys talk about are Movies on 4K Disc, because most of you don't have good Solid Fiber Streaming. So your Streaming is very weak and poor, but there are a lot of good Streaming options. Amazon Prime, ATV+, and Netflix have been putting out some very good Movies and TV Series...I'm just pointing them out!

Are you kidding? I think most of us have FTTP.

Apple is very good, easily the strongest via the streaming pick. Prime is decent for its own shows and movies, but comes up short overall, Netflix is ‘good enough’, which is all the masses care about, but 4k disc blows them all out of the water, especially in an area you are not even equipped to enjoy, surround sound. Never mind Atmos, you listen on headphones.

You are coming at this from am unqualified position.

Narc is a winner, natural grain patterns, strong colours (the film looks very Cameron like with a Blue tint), and the Atmos is fantastic.
Really solid thriller.

I hated Bound, so don’t own any disc version.

Bound is essential for me. Always loved it. It's a bit saucy and violent.
