Mine was Flash Gordon in the early 80’s. Back in the days when there was only two screens and woman came around selling how ice cream before the trailers.
My second film was Superman 2. Wish I kept the full colour programme my dad bought me from the screening. |

First movie in a theater is tough for me to remember.
I do remember being very upset going to The Pink Panther as it was not about the cartoon apart from the opening credits. The original movie came out before I was born so I don't know if I went to a re release or went to one of the sequels. Jaws, Star Wars and Superman were all more memorable theater experiences but I'm sure non of those was first. |

I well remember Superman showing at my local cinema as a kid. It was only a 2 screen cinema back then, and it was one of the very rare occasions where the same film was being played on both of them, such was the demand to see it. Even the opening credits were stunning for me, and the whole movie was simply a marvellous cinema experience.

I want to go all in with Apple, but after a data breach, I no longer keep any cards online so the only time I really watching anything on it now is if I receive a gift card for Christmas or my birthday, or I buy one at the grocery store. It seems like a lot of studios are pushing for 4K and all the newest remasters are coming out on that format rather than BD or even DVD. And some 4K stuff they are just flat out not releasing on discs which is a shame. That and it doesn't help that there are really only two players left in the game for disc players (Sony and Panasonic). 4K digital through Apple actually looks really nice to me on my TV. Sound isn't too bad. But again, I hate the fact that they exert absolute control over everything you buy and you can never truly "own" it. At least with digital music, there is no DRM... Oh and Vudu wouldn't be so bad if they would update their masters. There are still a few films I have in there which only have stereo audio but are in surround sound on Apple such as Blade Runner Theatrical Cut, The Host, a couple others too...

I did that once. True Story. The ATV4K is really very good.
What worked for me - Family sharing means everyone in my family has access to all my onilne media. I bought ATV4K's for my 3 kids. Apple music is great. What didn't work for me - I lost access to some of my purchased content. It was temporary but it seemed like something that could easily happen again. Also there's titles in my library that if I search for the ATV app will say I have to purchase but if I look in my library they are there. I re bought a few Marvel titles because of this but it's too common a thing to rebuy stuff. It's older SKU's vs newer. Finally, some changes to IOS are really bad. Like if anyone in my house is on Facetime I get an icon on screen that so far can not be defeated. Also the windowed end credits recently introduced is a disgrace. There's no knowing what Apple will do with the ATV4K in the future and Apple only supports hardware for a few years so if you don't like the next model with a camera you may not be able to use the model you still have and like because they will stop supporting it. -Brian Last edited by bhampton; 09-17-2024 at 08:43 AM. |

Got my tickets for Transformers One and Megalopolis in IMAX. Depending on how it goes, I might catch Wild Robot in theaters after all. We'll see, though.

Dark Water The Untouchables Mrs Doubtfire (this one is digital-only) Mad Max Trilogy There's more, I'd have to go dig through my stuff and find them. Basically like these masters are only on 4K digital and 4KBD, they are not putting out too many remastered standard Blu-rays. |

Depends on whether or not it's made available via GameFly, if available then will try before I buy. If GF does not have it then will see what streaming rental is. Streaming rental for many new titles is crazy as in $6 to $20. The trailer for Strange Darling looked pretty good so depending GF availability or streaming rental it could be a blind buy.
