I understand that he turns to the good side in the comics but, in the movie universe, how the heck would Ronan turn good?

Anyone can be redeemed and learn the error of their ways , you , me , Ronan heck in the MCU I wouldn't even rule out Thannos one day . I don't think anyone is 100 % a dick .

They are their own unique reality which isn't beholden to every bit of comic canon. Just like they already said that Star-Lord's Dad will not be J'Son of Spartax. |

I liked Guardians of the Galaxy. But it kinda got the "Wonder Years" treatment with all the music used to give the movie some wings.
The Antagonist "Ronan the Accuser" was seriously evil and on a mission of destruction. While the GoG. were kinda happy go lucky group trying to find a common purpose and goal. If only to escape space jail. My problem with GoG was that all the other Marvel movies were serious. Which will change slightly with Ant-man being a comedy and some other unknown films that might change the pacing of the MCU. However when the climax happens Ronan Vs. GoG. The comedy slap stick bit of dancing around as to distract Ronan just seemed like lazy writing. I get it fits into that 80's movie'esq montage that Guardians seems to be going for. To take us back to a place and time that we didn't need everything to be explainable or to analyze each and every scene with a microscope. With the Howard the Duck button scene at the end. It really reenforces that carefree 80's Action meets space adventure that you might have found in a lost 80s Roger Corman film. A movie that takes us all back to a time of "Child Like Wonder". I thought the movie looked great and the CGI was 100% on point. Possibly too many pointless Movie Stars playing lesser roles which kinda seems like "Smokey and The Bandit" with all the cameos fun but pointless. Which does lead to my ultimate critique of this film. The Avengers are serious and all about life & death business. When the Guardians all have their own personal agendas and reasons to "team up" and seemed bit forced story wise. I just feel that the GoG lack the seriousness and credibility that the Avengers have. I feel that the use of "Groovy old Tunes" aka the "Wonder Years Treatment" and too many 70's & 80's references made this movie more a Mc. Donald's Happy meal for mass consumption. I get it I do. The mass appeal with the use of comedy gets the same people out who only go see a "Seth Rogan" movie with all their friends on a Saturday night. At the same time people who are not true Marvel (MCU) fans are calling it the "Best Marvel Film" of the franchise. I just want the MCU to keep up the serious aspects up of the MCU. Not turn into Iron man or the Avengers into making Bad puns and playing tricks on Cap and the Hulk while trying to save the day and get the girl. IMO Ronan went to the same place as the Red Skull. So look for both of them to return or find their way back. |

All these movies do follow the comics , maybe not exactly but very closely . You won't ever see Cap come in and beat up the Hulk , know why because the pecking order is all established in the comics .

You know what I mean the proper strength levels are all there . If Cap punches a brick wall and the hulk punches a brick wall two different things are going to happen . Just as it should .

That's almost par for the course. Especially in the TV threads where virtually the entire first page is taken up with predictions of a quick cancellation. In one specific case, Arrow, the show is about to begin its third season.

But seriously it was meant as a compliment. A lot of people would have just deleted the comments. Last edited by shadedpain4; 08-20-2014 at 07:55 PM. |

I think everyone had some pretty sound reasons for being wary about how this would be received and how it would perform when this was first announced. But by the time, IM3, TDW, and TWS all outdid their predecessors, I don't think anyone was expecting this to be an outright flop.
I mean, it's definitely doing better than some of the more generous predictions, but I definitely saw this doing about as well as the first Thor and CA films by the time I saw how well TWS performed. |
