That’s a shame, but completely understandable. Agreed; I’m sure I’m not the only one who got hooked on golden age 3D because of the website.

I would like to suggest one important change for the web site:

Please announce your new projects there! Facebooks reign is over. More and more users deleting their Facebook account or stop using Facebook. Others havent made a Facebook account at all, cause of Facebooks horrible personal data dealing.

And Facebook doesnt allow to watch the content of a Facebook group without an account! So simply copy the news you are releasing on Facebook (for the last mohicans still on Facebook ) to your web page. I already missed a few of your announcements cause of that problem. And there are news plugins avail for Typo 3 or WordPress. So its almost just copy and paste.

Absolutely. With the redesign of the website, we will take a much more active approach to announcing new projects there.

Almost noone under the age of 25 is still using Facebook. Facebook is today the same mails were during the 2000s. Almost young people using it for communication and thinking about how cool/modern they are .

But even if Facebook was still trending: Everyone without an account cant see the news. And that cant be useful for 3DFA. Thats why I cant wait for the new web design and the news there !!!

Actually use or just have an account? They're not the same. I know lots of people who no longer use their Facebook accounts.

So how many people under 30 are buying vintage 3D discs? (Or discs at all for that matter) The young are not the market. It’s either older folk who caught it the first time around, or 30-40 somethings who have heard about it from their folks and want to experience it.

‘Trending on Tik Tok’ isn’t going to change a thing. The more exposure, the better. If that means the ‘oldies’ on Facebook, all the better.

People get these personal agendas going and do everything they can to convince the rest of us we need to join in. I'm not a follower by any means. I do my own thing. I get on Facebook for the groups I'm a member of or have created. And yes, I'm a member of the 3D Enthusiast group.

Don't go writing off FACEBOOK just because you have a problem with it. Perhaps the problem is you. I find FACEBOOK an interesting and vital forum for dialogue.

Sorry to tell. But Facebook as a market is dead. Its gone. There are many people still there, but thats not the market anymore. Thats why Zuckerberg is so happy that he owns WhatsApp (this is also becoming too old in average customer age) and Instagramm (beside TikTok the thing you have to use this days).

But that isnt the point of my post. The point was that, beside the old Facebook, it would be awesome to offer the news on a platform where you personal data arent stolen and where everyone (!) could access. Thos both terms arent fulfilled by Facebook. Thats why the web page will be the far better platform for news. But (!), as mentioned in my posting, there is no problem at all, that the news are released on both platforms. On a webpage each and every person on this planet could access (a lot more then 3 billions ) and the one for the fans of a dying platform. Sorry , meant indeed for the fans of Facebook.

Conclusio: Thanks for offering the news for your amazing projects and products also on your webpage!!!!

I’m curious if anyone here has more information on the pre-Bluray 3D releases of Golden Age titles? I believe they were released on interlaced VHS or VCDs? I’m familiar with the old shutter-glass technology (eg from Sensio, but available in one form or another since rhe 80’s) that could be used on old CRTs, but I haven’t been able to track down much concrete info on these titles. I’ve heard maybe they were released in Japan? I’ve seen legitimate copies floating around of Hannah Lee, The Stranger Wore a Gun, Dangerous Mission, the French Line, and Second Chance… but I might be missing some. (There’s also Silver Age titles like Emmanuelle, Starchaser, and Space Hunter.)

Reg, I think I saw you mention (on Facebook, ironically) that you had a few of these and were able to convert to side-by-side format for yourself. I haven’t been able to find any original copies of these available online. The Sensio DVDs are sometimes on Enay, but the Golden Age stuff seems to only pop up in bootlegs from the Australian guy. I’d rather have the original source material! Since it seems like we likely won’t see all of these titles on Bluray, I’d like to collect snd preserve copies for myself if they’re at all available (even id it’s pricey!)

The 3D is effective but the quality is of course low, and the hardest thing about viewing these today is the interlacing induced 1-frame offset between left and right eye. I wonder if the discomfort of watching these on a modern screen was mitigated a bit watching on the intended CRT screens.

I haven’t found a list of what was available and where they were sold or on what system (I don’t think it was Sensio??) I have no clue who scanned (or telecined) the film to create these releases. I can’t understand why they were able to release these in 3D so long ago, on such a low-quality format, but now they aren’t allowed to be released/restored on Bluray! (Okay, budget would be a pretty guess on that…)

Anyway, with s lull in new restorations I thought I would at least ask. It’s a topic I’ve been trying to find more info on for a long time, but it seems very sparse.

I'm one of those people that won't go near FB, and I'm someone verrry interested in 3DFA (I own every pre-1970s 3D film on Blu-ray) and related news and announcements. Doing both is probably the best strategy, but I would think most people looking for info on classic 3D films will end up on the official 3DFA website.

I find it bizarre that you would start a new account and your first four posts would be to tell everyone how awful Facebook is.
You also seem to think the 16-28 age group is the ONLY one that matters. It isn’t. While it’s true it’s a very important market for ads and targeting, it’s far from the only market.
Plus, how many people under 30 do you think buy vintage 3D titles? (I asked it before but you chose to ignore)

Facebook skews older, it makes sense that many will seek out info there. Like you agreed, both are important.

Except for House of Wax and Dial M, there were no legit releases. Those RKO titles were done from release prints by Michael Starks and Paul Adair.
