But why did you get two versions of Falling Down? I have Warner's original snapper case flipper release, which was pretty horrid in the video and audio departments; how's the Deluxe Edition of this disc? Did it receive a remastering?

I will probably upgrade to the Blu-ray at some point if I do decide to upgrade, but I don't get around to watching this great flick all too often -- was a favorite of mine through college though.

Last night, rented:

Gadot is incredibly sexy in black lingerie in one sequence, but as the typical pretty wife-next-door, Fisher steals the show when SHE gets into nude-colored lingerie to seduce her moronic husband (played by Galifinakis)...

Wow. Talk about sexy, fellas.

This was yet another un-funny vehicle to make Gadot look hotter than she is (there's still something very manly about her; must be the whole Israeli commando past she had -- though she looks good in the Wonder Woman getup) and the script was poorly written for all involved; Jason Bateman would have been a better choice for Galifinakis' role IMO.

I came across the older version at one location and then the newer release a day later at another location. Yep, it's advertised on the back artwork that it's been "digitally remastered". It also has a commentary with Michael Douglas and Joel Schumacher as well as a featurette. I haven't watched the disc yet. This was a blind buy for me.

Rented Bye Bye Man last night (but on Blu) -- wasn't nearly as frightening or terrifying as I was expecting.
Uh oh...... I did a blind buy on that one because the trailer looked interesting. I got a used Blu-ray copy for about half the price of a new one, so I couldn't resist. Haven't watched it, yet.

You never saw Falling Down? You're in for a real treat -- Douglas' character captures the way most of us feel under pressure, though we can't do what he does in the film (react quite dramatically to overpriced fast food garbage passed off as edible cuisine and being a few minutes over the "breakfast time" as mandated by that same fast food chain, violently vent frustration over convenience store owners who cannot speak English yet take American money like it's going out of style, lash out at constantly-begging hobos who refuse to seek employment, et al).

It's a true testament and reflection of society's woes as seen through the somewhat twisted (yet justified in many instances) lens of an average American laid-off worker who simply snaps one hot afternoon in L.A.

As for the different versions, I'd be interested to know if that Deluxe Edition did indeed clean up the original transfer on the flipper disc, because that one was pretty bad; at any rate, I would get the Blu-ray, personally, if I feel an urge to upgrade...

I didn't care for it; could have been so much better, especially given the impressive makeup work on the main character when he appears...

Speaking of birthdays in this thread, it's my birthday as well, this month...on the 16th...

Though I wish I was 18 like the member who mentioned his...

I feel like we're talking about this like they do in Identity, when they're discussing the "common birthdays" in that scene towards the end...
