A shame that the 90's works are still suffering from rights issues, but I'm glad that we've at least gotten Crazy Thunder Road, Electric Dragon, and Crazy Family finally on blu over here.

It's fun searching for these films in this thread and seeing early posts where thirdwindow explain why these releases can't happen (like this one over 10 years ago):

Crazy Family can NEVER be released in any format outside of Japan. Neither can Crazy Thunder Road. Rights issues with TOHO for some reason.

Watched Typhoon Club last night, and thought it was one of the most strange and disturbing films I've seen for a long time. Has an incredibly dread inducing atmosphere from about half way through that I didn't expect.
Thoroughly recommended!
I wonder if 'Moving' by the same director is on the cards for a release? Even the clip shown in Mark Cousin's 'Story of Children and Film' completely floored me with its intensity.

Third Window have said that, as the new 4K restoration of Moving is getting a US release, they're concentrating on Somai films that don't have another English-friendly release in the pipeline.

I wonder if this is because of the Typhoon Club release, where the US release was put out on UHD which detracted from their initial Blu-ray announcement (and might have affected sales to some extent).

You're probably thinking of the poor master for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, KaizerChief made a quick comparison with the 4k remaster Kadokawa released in Japan: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=4928

in a way, yes i am. really, i'm thinking of the boxset it came from, because as soon as i saw discussion on poor masters being used, i discounted it and partially switched off.

In general I'd say to expect that these standard releases are repacks of the discs featured in the Nobuhiko Obayashis 80s Kadokawa Years -Boxset.

Annoyingly that and Hoarder on the Border aren't playing near me, the two I was most looking forward to

I am going to watch Twilight Cinema Blues on the weekend though as it seems like a nice slice of life kinda film.

Typhoon Club was great. Does anyone have a list of the songs? Particularly the one used in all the trailers.

EDIT: It's the song in this trailer.
https://www.youtube.com/supported_br...tube.com/watch

Is it by PJ & Cool Runnings?
Or Shigeaki Saegusa?
I bet Adam knows... he's probably DJ'ing with it as we speak.

I know best because whenever I put the trailer up on any platform I get tons of copyright takedown requests!

Thanks Adam!
But the specific song from the trailer turned out to be Tonde Misero by Barbee Boys (someone on Reddit asked the same question 6 years ago).

You're right, I should have watched the trailer again before answering! The Barbee Boys song I posted is the one used for the opening credits of the film

Regardless, it's a bit of an ear-worm and has been on regular rotation in my head since watching the film.

@thirdwindowfilms

With the recent success of All of Us Strangers in the cinemas, is there any chance we might see a release of Nobuhiko Obayashi's The Discarnates at any point?
