It is perplexing as to why the 4K UHD's of Halloween 4 and 5 will not include the original audio mixes.

Assuming that Scream Factory used the original Ultra Stereo audio stems to create the Dolby Atmos mixes, how costly would it have been to encode and include them on the releases?

It's possible the Ultra Stereo mixes for Halloween 4 and 5 are ether lost/discarded by rightsholder, or too damaged/incomplete to use after years of poorly maintained storage. They could locate the old 4:3 SD masters (which were used to make the VHS/LDs) to mine the stereo mixes off, or worst case scenerio do a LD cap and source the PCM audio off it.

It's obvious they still have M/D/E and OST master tracks for all the Halloween films, as they were used to create the 5.1 and Atmos remixes. Hell, even Halloween II and Season of the Witch have new Atmos mixes (the later only having mono on all prior releases).

They're already $28.99 on Diabolik. Amazon will likely follow at some point. I agree $37 is too much for these particular releases. That's why it's silly to order these direct from Shout.

Then again look at the prices of some Arrow, Synapse, Severin and Vinegar Syndrome discs, as examples. 4k horror remasters are pricey.

Yeah, I may cancel and buy again on sale if Amazon doesn't drop the price before release, but since they're already 29$ at Diabolik, it seems likely.

Yes he is. The new trilogy that has only had one movie released, and still needs the original to set up.

I might do the same, but since I already got a discount from Amazon with my purchase that covered all the tax, plus free shipping, I'm going to keep my pre-order in place until I have the pre-shipping estimated delivery date, and then consider canceling in favor of Diaolik if it doesn't drop below $30. But even then, it might still end up being cheaper with Amazon due to the discount.

Well, the only film in the trilogy that's current out sold significantly more tickets than OG HALLOWEEN II and has way better reviews, so it's not exactly a rare opinion.

Although I feel confident enough as someone who's seen H18 and HALLOWEEN KILLS that yes, the new trilogy is better than OG HALLOWEEN II

I keep going back and forth on what to order, but 1-3 seem to be the likely pickups. They’re my most watched of the series, and if I hadn’t just picked up the NSM Blu-rays of 4-5 last year (which DO have the original 2-channel audio), I maybe would have considered upgrading those too. Decisions. Decisions.
