Depends. It might do. But it would be false advertising, seen as it's supposed to be a 'limited edition.' They could do it with Who season 12 as they pressed more copies to be in line with the other seasons. Then again, these are extraordinary circumstances...

I mean, does anyone remember members complaints about the GALVASTON 4K disc? Same thing here. I could just be that Amazon Prime's 4K HDR sucks big time but holy crap...IT. IS. BAD.
I bought it and watched some of it through MA and thought it looked very good. That being said, Amazon's 4K IS very bad in general.

I hope I am wrong but I expected this would happen and Amazon would suddenly remove all pre-order prices. I have dozens of pre-orders (mostly books) and all are still pre-ordered in my account but every one of them is now unavailable for pre-order on their item pages.

This suggests we will see items cancelled, especially ones not yet in production because of the current delays. Publishers will have no choice but to increase prices because the price of production will be far higher when things get moving again.

EDIT: Not all pre-order prices are gone but many are and more are dropping off today. Looking at various things I am interested in I would say 90% of them are now unavailable to order.

I suppose it depends if they've already made the sets, which would be likely as it's only a month away. Maybe they'll fulfill the current orders but no more. Which is a shame as it could mean that the Star Wars set becomes more limited than they originally thought.

Sold out? I'm surprised if it has because they could have kept the 'limited edition,' thing going until it came out and beyond. More money, right?

I've ordered it and cancelled it several times but I did pre-order it again yesterday.
All listings for The Skywalker Saga (DVD/BD/UHD) are now unavailable as is The Rise of Skywalker so I expect they know the current unfolding situation globally is going to cause disruptions and will result in limited stock so instead of carrying on taking orders them have stopped for the time being.

Absolutely. But can they do this on a limited edition? Stop and then start it again? And will they fulfill the initial orders?

Yes, I think that is highly likely. I too doubt this set is still not produced so maybe the SW prices vanishing is just to concentrate on the orders they have. I hope that is the case.

We have now cancelled many of our pre-orders beyond the things that are truly new. So academic works, journals and books related to the studies I enjoy are all still on order. But for now this box has become a luxury we don't need. We have the BDs so no rush.

Plus we want to use that money from the SW set to buy vouchers from our local cinema. We visit the same cinema at least 20 times a year so to lose them during this time would be like losing family.

Yes, they can do whatever they want at this stage. Until a product is in the consumers hands or has been shipped it is treated as an 'invitation to treat' and no sale has taken place, even if monies have been exchanged.

Very admirable. I too visit a cinema (inside a museum) often and worry how it is affecting them. The screens were often empty (or partially full) before this.

Absolutely, it was not the shutdown alone but the weeks before as viewings suddenly dried up to no more than a few scattered people. Disney will survive this, a small independent cinema with a dozen staff will struggle to see the other side of this situation so it is a tiny gesture for years of using their business as our second living room.

Limited editions are usually limited to however many they can sell. I'd imagine in this case, it might well be limited to however many they've already made with factories shutting down all over the world. The death of physical media might be with us a LOT sooner than we thought. (This last bit is a joke, lest I be accused of scaremongering!)

That's my point, I can still walk into pretty much any charity shop and pick up the limited edition silver DVD release of Men In Black. I think a plain release, if it existed, is far rarer

Yeah, right now I'd be worrying a lot more about the death of the physical beings purchasing physical media

We have a similar thing in the Tolkien community about all the Alan Lee signed illustrated editions that have been around the last decade or so, somebody posts a picture and we are impressed that they have one of the ultra rare 'unsigned editions'

This is probably the reason that items are being removed. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/exclu...-sh&soc_trk=tw

Amazon are not accepting stock into their warehouses until April 5th unless they deem them to be vital supplies. Once the restriction is removed, I imagine everyone will be able to order once again.

It's only for third party sellers items that are fulfilled by Amazon.

That is what I would really like too. More detailed photos of the interior of the box set, as well as dimensions on the box and inner book.
