I watched The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare & Doomsday on 4K discs and they were both winners. Ministry had been a blind buy and the 4K discs did not disappoint.

I really shouldn't be spending that much.
I keep my new purchases apart (aka unwatched shelf) until I watch them. That way I k now what I have not seen yet, when there are too many it helps me realize to curb buying ( why spend 25$ today if I can find it cheaper way before I veer get to watch it). And gets me to look to buy more when needed.

Considering the cost went up and the spending went down it's even more of a negative trend for streaming. However ad supported streaming went way up so if you want to get paid to be brainwashed the future is bright. Sort of.
Oh no streaming is dying (just joking, just find it funny when there is way more trivial news on physical media that somehow is some peoples response)

As a frame of reference, approximately how many discs do you watch in a year.

Ceiling using a Engage Engineering HT mount (here). Will remove the Chief mount used for the Sony projector and install the HT mount on the same 1-½" NPT pipe. See pics:

Still, for that $220 you get 9 years worth of entertainment running 4188 minutes across 24 discs. That's $24.44 per season, 5.25 cents per minute, and $9.17 per 4K disc. This set is equivalent to almost 35 two-hour long movies in the amount of entertainment that it provides and that doesn't include the extras.

Alternatively, the digital version in HDX "quality" at Fandango At Home is $99.99... with a list price of $511.29! The list price for the 4K disc set is only $249.99.

The extras are useless, though. Badly upscaled (background morphing around the characters) and forced to 24 frames per second from the 29.97 DVDs, causing choppiness especially in the bloopers. Better watched on DVD. Also a ton of old extras missing.

It is expensive when you already have the DVDs in the correct aspect ratio. I only bought it early because Sony's practice with limited edition and print-on-demand editions made me fear missing out. You'd think the Dolby Vision Ghostbusters and standalone Lawrence of Arabia are popular enough that they would keep them in print.

My copy of Se7en showed up today...
My son texted to let me know and ask if he wanted me to remix it with the 7.1 audio from the BD...
I was busy at work and by the time I replied, both copies are waiting for me on the server...

I watched this Alien Movie last night on Hulu, and it was pretty good I enjoyed it. It has all the affects and the young actors are very good. Good Story Line and the Face Huggers, and Aliens come out so watch out!

The Lawrence of Arabia UHD steel book?
I kind of panic bought that last year, but it looks like it keeps going back in stock every other month or so.

Ministry was a really fun movie with a great cast and an even better 4K release. The fact that it was loosely based on a true story made it even more interesting.

Upgraded my classic monster movies to UHD today. A quick check of the reviews convinced me to retire my blu ray set.

I'm glad these come with Digital Copies also in 4K.

I still remember how fun it was many years ago when Blockbuster priced this set on DVD as a single DVD which at the time meant it was $24. It was a such a great deal that I bought it for several people who probably had no interest in it. .... thereby making it perhaps less of a great deal. But, Fun is where you find it.

So my IMAX screening of Se7en is tonight and They have Nosferatu screening in Dolby Cinema right after. I watched the latter last week in IMAX but would love to check it out in DC.

Thank you 🙏 hospital is never good, especially when it becomes a multi-day being stuck there. Let’s just hope it will keep getting better especially since the last 3 days I have regressed again
